We relisted a couple of items and found that the pictures showing in the relisting were completely mixed. Our camery numbering system does not repeat. The picture numbers are about 500 numbers different.

How do we solve this. It causes much consternation to our bidders and to our staff.

This also happens after an auction ends.

Thank you for your help.

Hello Tom,

It is best to give all of your images unique names to avoid this problem. If you delete an image and upload a new image with the same filename, the new image will appear in the listing that had the original image attached (as you have found).

You can rename your images as you upload them if you are uploading online. Otherwise, you would have to rename the images by right-clicking on the files in the camera disk directory, then add them to SM Pro.

Thanks,

Diana

Each picture has a unique name. They are automatically numbered by the camera sequentially. They names look like this: DSC09051.JPG.

At some point after an auction ends, the numbers change. I am considering trying to start the number sequence over again with 00000 to see if that changes anything.

Thank you for your help. My frustration is assuaged by your quick replies.

I was hoping to still get a better answer to my problem of the wrong pictures showing up when we relist.

Waiting for your reply.

Hello Tom,

Unfortunately, the only advice I can give you is to name your images with unique filenames (or change the URL in the listing when your relist.) If you re-use the filename DSCN1005, the URL in the original listing will be pointing to an image called DSCN1005 - even if the image has changed. We do not rename images once they're uploaded, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say "at some point after the listing ends the numbers change". If you can clarify that statement, maybe we can be of more help.

Thanks,

Diana

We never reuse our numbers (image names). Each picture has a new number. But for some reason, vendio pick up another image after a period of time. If we look up a few week old auction, the pictures are often different.

We do not reuse names. We never have. Somewhere in the computer world the pictures get changed.
