Hello,
On January 30, 2007, Vista was released worldwide to the general public, and was made available for purchase and downloading from Microsoft's web site.
While Vendio does not claim to officially support the Vista operating system, most users have been able to load the program after a little tweaking to the install process, although the problem with Vista has been that no two machines are alike and the workarounds to get it to synch without error haven't worked for all users.
As a result, there are a few different ways to load it that could work, and there is no rhyme as to why one works for someone and not someone else (not specific to preloaded vista Vs upgraded, nor 32 Vs 64 bit processors.)
We'll start going back through the directions that have worked for most setups, although it should be noted that any step in this process that isn't followed to a T will result in the program failing, and if we move on to the next possible workaround as a result, we may seemingly never find the right solution for your setup. Please let us know if there are any steps at all in the process that you are unable to complete for any reason so we can work with you.
Uninstall the program and restart the computer.
When finished, try the following:
1. Download the SMPRO software, opting to save - NOT run from its current location.
2. Create a new folder on your C:\Users\Yourusername directory, it doesnt matter what you call the folder.
3. Run the installer for the SMPRO software. When you get to the part where it asks where you want to install the software to, click browse and install it into this newly created folder in your Users directory.
4. When done installing, uncheck BOTH boxes to view the read me and launch the program.
5. Restart the computer.
6. - Right click the SMPRO icon and click on 'preferences' - go to the compatibility tab and click to run this program in Win XP SP2 mode.
7. Right click the SMPRO icon, and check the box to run this application as an administrator.
8. Launch the software. - When asked, say 'NO' if it asks if you want to download your images and preferences.
8. When the program is done loading, click the Preferences button along the left side of the page. Check the box at the very bottom of this window that says 'Do not download standard images from Vendio image hosting' and save the change.

I am having the same problem and have been trying to do the steps suggested by Vendio customer service, Chris...all I got for hours of uninstalling and re-installing is lost files that I spent hours typing!
I have been with this company for years but am about to kiss it goodbye. This is too frustrating. If I cannot get it fixed THIS WEEK so it doesn't keep shutting down whenever I hit the save or OK button...I'm GONE!

Hello,
veropierre - We do need to verify what has been done thus far, its part of the troubleshooting process. Moving on without knowing exactly whats been done, especially with Vista, can mean bypassing something that *may* have worked.
We will however assume that you have done the above and the other posted suggestions and move on to the next option/workaround for Vista.
Prior to launching the program again, manually navigate to your Vendio install location and open the Temp folder. (C:\Users\USER_NAME\Vendio\Temp)
Manually delete the contents, but keep the directory open. Launch the program and begin your work. If the program goes into a 'not responding' status, see if purging the temp folder contents again allows you to continue your work.
Also it would be helpful to know what your doing when the program does crash, be it synching or creating ads/etc.

In the last few days I heard 5 time did you follow the steps... so it's a bit annoying.
SM Pro doesn't go unresponding it just close it self with and error like Error #1111111 in whatever module. I called microsoft to be sure it wasn't a Vista problem and they say it's a compatibility issue.
I did the following any way:
"Prior to launching the program again, manually navigate to your Vendio install location and open the Temp folder. (C:\Users\USER_NAME\Vendio\Temp)"
but got the same problem. My machine is installed with Vista Business x86 (not 64bits). I tried on a 64bits laptop and it's even worse. SM pro starts and crashes almost immediatly.

Hello,
Thank you for the update. If you decide to use it again and would like to continue to troubleshoot this, please let us know.
Most Vista users have been able to get the program to work using the methods mentioned, but as buggy as Vista still seems to be, not all systems are alike unfortunately.

Just adding my two cents in. I have given up on Pro also. Could not get it installed on my brand new computer with vista. Thought I'd read the posts to see if there is any improvement yet to getting it installed.
