I have been having this problem on and off for some time. Rate calculator in checkout is incorrect. I posted before a few weeks ago....but never received any kind of reply

I can't keep loosing several $$ with every other transaction...so if I can't get this worked out, I may have to look for a new venue for listing my auctions....don't want to, been with you guys like 9 years....but you didn't even bother to respond last time

Here is an example - auction # 190151773925

The customers zip code is 85028

The calculator on ebay to that zip is showing $10.34 for UPS (I supposedly have a $1.90 markup added in too)

When the customer went through Vendio checkout- they paid $8.40 for UPS

The actual UPS amount (using UPS worldship account) is $9.53

with my markup the customer should be charged $11.43

So the rate calculator on ebay is off $1.30 and Vendio checkout IS OFF $3.03!!!!!

Our store uses only brand new packaging and I have to pay my staff to pack the ebay stuff .....how do I do that when not only am I in the hole on the shipping but I am also not getting my $1.90 markup????

By the way I sold a $295 dress for $20....so I really don't have any room to loose money on the transaction, because of the program I pay for not working!!

Hello Lisae,

I checked the past 3 months for posts from your username but couldn't locate one where you mentioned this issue. Our apologies if we missed it.

Item number 190151773925.

This item was sent to eBay as weighing 2 pounds and 8 ounces. Shipping from zip code 19560, with a $1.90 markup.

Your Vendio preferences for charging UPS calculated shipping are set to your having a Daily Pickup type account (which means your rates will be cheaper than if you used a regular UPS drop off service or a UPS store.)

The USP shipping calculator shows that the cost to ship this package is $6.50.

Add your $1.90 markup to that, and you get exactly what the Vendio checkout charged your buyer = $8.40.

Perhaps you have selected the wrong UPS customer type in your preferences. You can edit those settings by clicking here:
https://secure.vendio.com/my/acct/seller_global.html

Note that you can also set this in your eBay account, by clicking the following link:
http://cgi5.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SellerShippingPreferences&mode=showUps

Regards,
Christopher

Well...

The problem is, the address is not a commercial address.

This is also an issue I brought up before.

Customers check the commercial box in their checkout....knowing that the shipping will be cheaper.

In this case it is several dollars less~~

Why is this even being given as an option??

Anywhere else you shop on line...the price is the price, you are not given the option of getting less expensive shipping just because you decide to send it to a work address! (unless it is a business to business site)

I have been on ebay for 10 years and never once when I went through any sellers checkouts, was I given the option of getting less expensive shipping if I wanted it shipped to my business address!!

So now what?? I sold my item for almost next to nothing....now I should eat several dollars in shipping???

Please send me the link to turn off the "commercial shipping" option in checkout

Hello,

Thank you for the suggestion (to have the ability to not allow your buyers to select that they have a commercial address). I have passed your suggestion along to the product manager for evaluation.

Regards,
Nathan

So...

You are saying that there is no way to turn that option off??

I am loosing money! Is that supposed to be ok??

So I am paying for a service, that causes me to loose money, is that what I am to understand?

I am so glad that you are going to pass that along, I wouldn't have thought that to be rocket science.....that people will take advantage or find loopholes wherever they can.

How about this~~Since you guys are the ones that felt the need to give that little bonus to customers....how about you cover the extra fees from now till you fix it everytime a customer gets a little "crafty".

I think that sounds fair, after all I am paying for a service that works and helps my business....not one that ripps me off

Hello Lisae,

There is no option to turn that off the UPS requirement that you specify if the address is commercial or not.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on this issue with us. Rest assured it has been filed with the appropriate department.

As for how to best handle a buyer providing false information? Each seller would likely handle it differently, but one would assume that a request for the proper shipping fees based on that false data would be in order.

"one would assume that a request for the proper shipping fees based on that false data would be in order. "

Yes... you are right, I can try that.... I can try that till I turn blue, then when they don't respond, I can refuse to sell to them (send Paypal refund)....then I can get NEG. Feedback

Thats about how that works....

I don't know about you, but I have better things to do then chase down money, thay I shouldn't have to chase down ~~

Hello,

True, a buyer should not be leaving false information for their ship to address requiring such actions.

Perhaps switching to USPS instead of UPS (where the requirement to specify commercial or not) would be more ideal. - for now anyway, if this is happening on most of your UPS calculated shipping customers.

Also, if you could outline for us the numerous times this is taking place, that would help. Getting a better idea of how rampant this situation is would bump the enhancement request up in the list of 'wants' currently being evaluated and implemented.

Christopher

Well...

Here is the reply from the customer ~~

Hi-it isn't a commercial address it is my home address.
Emily

Thanks!

So.... now she fesses up it isn't a commercial address but THIS IS A PROBLEM!!

Now I have to act like an idiot and say, well gee...can't ship till you go through paypal and send me more $$
Than...
she'll reply....what do you mean??? or how do I do that....then I can waste more time sending a invoice.

I don't know about you....but I am trying to run a business, not hold hands. BECAUSE YOU GUYS HAVE SOME IDIOTIC OPTION FOR COMMERCIAL SHIPPING, on a open to the general public AUCTION (RETAIL) site!!!

Hello Lisae,

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback on this issue with us, and again we are sorry to hear of this issue with your customer lying about their shipping details to you during the checkout process.

Please let us know of others that you come across where they are doing the same so we can track this issue.

Christopher
