We are having an issue on two machines we have Sales Manager Pro installed on. Both machines are exhibiting the same symptoms.
One machine is running Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic, the other is running Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (Retail version). Both machines are having Sales Manager Pro shut down randomly, are having problems opening batch files that have been saved, and crash often. We have scoured the forums and found suggestions such as running in Windows 98 Compatibility Mode or Windows XP SP2 mode and thus far this has not helped.
It should be noted that we believe we have found a viable answer to the problem, though we are unable to fix this as the solution would require your programming team to look into this.
We have another machine running Windows Vista Home Basic, and it has no problems at all. The only difference between this machine and the two having problems are the version of Microsoft Office they are running. The machine with no problems is running Office 2003, the machines having problems are running Office 2007 ultimate. It appears that for some reason Sales Manager Pro is utilizing something that Office 2007 updates and Sales Manager Pro is not performing a call correctly or just not compatible with.
We have ensured we are running the latest version of Sales Manager Pro on all computers.
Please advise on this issue, we have been having problems with Sales Manager Pro for a few days now, and would like to get this resolved ASAP as we rely on the application for day-to-day operations.
Respectfully,
Matthew Jackson

Unfortunately the last version of Sales Manager Pro was released some time back as we'll be phasing the program out in the coming months.
Your right in that something with Microsoft Office performing an update has caused Windows to shut the SMPRO program down under the assumption that it has already crashed (rather than the program actually closing down on it's own or crashing on it's own) - as we have heard from one or two other users with similar reports where the program was running fine until either installing or updating a copy of Microsoft Office. (meaning of course that it can run fine in Windows, but something in Office is causing a compatibility issue.)
If you have a viable answer to the problem, feel free to send it to us via [email protected] so we can pass it along to the engineers, in case there is something that can be done to the existing version to stop Windows from terminating it in error.
The workarounds to get the program running without crashing that you have already read are the only ones we know to have worked for other users. Unfortunately if you tried those already and the problem persists, the only option is to use the regular fully featured web based Sales Manager or to uninstall the program causing the compatibility issue.
If you are going to be phasing out the program in the next coming months, how soon are we talking about this being phased out, and what are you going to be offering as a replacement? Are you going to a completely web based solution?
I certainly hope this is not the case. From the vantage point of someone who lists a plethora of items, I can attest to it being nice to be able to format the HTML and then go into the editor in SMPro to adjust in a GUI, as well as the tabular features and having the freedome to click from tab to tab without having to scroll up and down as the web based solution is now. The stand alone app is far more user-friendly and less time-consuming. The web app is rather cumbersome.
No announcements have been made as to when the transition into the new system would happen, however when an eta does become available it will be posted on the website so users can prepare.
There is no official word on a program to replace the offline Sales Manager Pro at this time, however there may be an offline program for the new platform. The final decision on that project has not yet been made.
