I have read several post where sellers were receiving PP payments from buyers who were shorting them the shipping. They would have to request the additional funds and that was costing them extra money. Some pass it on to the buyer.
OK, I just used the "instant purchase" link at the bottom of an auction and I was dropped into paypal on a sign-in page and then directed to a form that was all filled out with auction number, description, seller email and final price of the auction. Neat-0-fine! However, it showed the shipping fee as $0. Well, I should have backed out right there, but I am an optimistic sort of person and I thought maybe the seller was giving free shipping for the use of PP! Yep, I can make quantum leaps like that. Then I thought maybe the next page would allow me to add in the postage. Nope, just sent my payment for the auction close amount.
I emailed the seller immediately and she emailed back for me to be sure and add in the $5.50 for postage/insurance. I emailed her back sorry too late. I'll have to make another payment for the shipping.
I found out that if a seller chooses to use the instant purchase option for their auctions, they have to enter in the amount of shipping ahead of time. Either as default or in cases where the shipping depends on weight/distances/insurance and such they have to add the shipping individual for each auction. If they don't then all the buyer is going to see on the "instant purchase invoice" is the final bid amount!!!
Just thought I would point this out, since maybe my seller ISN'T the only seller to not know this. If you are a seller and your are getting shorted the shipping on PP payments maybe this is the reason. Then again, maybe my seller IS the only one who does NOT know this.
I'll just stick to making payments through PP the old fashion way: I'll fill in the info myself!
