Hooray and many thanks to the AW team for the changes in categories. Imagine my surprise when I turned on the system tonight. I am trying to figure out how the "promote" button works, and exactly where it comes into play. Is there a detailed explanation somewhere?

OK guys, I figured it out. But here's the thing - surely the items you identify should take precedence over any others. ie: for a bracelet I marked 2 different necklaces to promote with discount. But when I put that bracelet into my checkout, only 1 of those necklaces comes up with 3 other misc. items. The other necklace doesn't come up. If the items for upsell is just a random choice, then it pretty much makes the whole promote process defunct. Please let me know if this is the case, or if it's my error. I don't want to do all that work of marking things if I really have no control over what comes up at checkout.
Thanks.

Hi planejane,

You are right: promoted items take precedence over any others. On one condition only: promoted items must be present in the shop. If in your example if one of the nacklaces has a quantity of 0 in your shop, it will not be promoted while you have the bracelet in the cart.

Duh! You're right. For some reason it had a 0 in storefront to it. Sorry and thanks.

Must promoted items have a discount? I have not tested this feature yet.

Have an item that I would like to promote, but it's already at a clearance price. How would a promo item look *without* a discount? Would the discount field show up with a zero in it? Or would the item simply show up at the storefront price?

Hi Ddeva,

A discount is not mandatory. In the checkout page, your buyer will see some upsell store items. Promoted items take precedence over 'regular' store items, and are preffered for displaying them as upsell store items. However, if no discount is associated, none will be displayed (i.e. only the store price)
