Up till now the answer given to any inquiry about inventory adjustments or abandoned shopping carts has been that the stores are a free service so basically non payers can be deleted from post sales and the items put back into inventory manually which made perfect sense.
However this is not now the case. I have had on occasion potential buyers fill out and confirm an order and then decide to reduce the quantity or to forgo the sale altogether. This never bothered me as it was only a small inconvenience and cost nothing. The playing field has now changed, what is the procedure for returning inventory that was sold yet remains unpaid?
I have had success with my store as you are aware but still I do get an occasional cart that is never paid for and with no means of retraction if a quantity needs to be lowered I'd like to know the procedure before I have to deal with it in real time.

My interest is the same as Dave's. On more than one occasion I have received orders that were never paid for. Just deleted them as there was no other option. What now?
Just as with auctions, if there is a non-paying bidder, you will need to manually adjust your quantity avaialble. Additionally, we will have a non-paying bidder refund process just like regular auctions.
We will make the process for requesting non-paying bidder refunds available shortly.

The non paying bidder refund procedure for auctions is overly complicated involving the retrieval of the AW transaction number and then lots of cut and paste for verification. Then wait up to 2 weeks for the refund to be credited to ones account. There are very few links to the refund page and almost no mention of it on the site. I have more abandoned items from the storefront than auctions as there is no feedback system. Likewise there is no way to ban an unwanted customer. A couple of weeks ago I had a person load up and abandon 3 shopping carts in the course of an afternoon. The next day their eBay account was cancelled (I know this as a bid they placed was cancelled by eBay as an administative cancellation. If that were to happen today I suspect I'd get to spend quite a bit of time retrieving fees.
