Can you tell me how shipping is calculated in a store purchase when :

1. Customer won an auction, at AW checkout they add a store item to their purchase. Both items have a shipping method of USPS Priority (one is Calc'd and the other is fixed).

2. Same as #1 except the auction shipping method is USPS Priority Calc'd and the store item method is Media Rate.

3. Same as #1 except both items shipping methods are USPS Priority Calc'd.

Thanks!!
Anita

Hi Anita,

USPS calculated shipping works based on yours and the buyers zip code and the items weight, so for all of these exampled let's say that comes to $5.

1. $5 + whatever the fixed amount you specified for that item = total.

2. $5 + whatever the fixed amount you specified for that item = total.

3. $5 + whatever the calculator figures the shipping will be for the other item, based on yours and the buyers zip code and the items weight.

Christopher,
I thought that at checkout time when the buyer had 2 auctions that where both USPS Priority Calc'd, the system added the 2 weights then did one calculation based on zip codes. Versus doing the calculation twice - once for each weight then adding the 2 shipping prices together. Is that right?

Hello,

That is correct, provided you have the 'Total weight of all items (e.g., to ship in one package)' option enabled. You can enable this (if you havent already) via the My Account tab, under the Global Preferences link found within.

Hi again,
Then why wouldn't #3 in first post be calculated with the total weight instead of two calculations then added together?
