Customer completed checkout for two items and payment type was listed as Unknown. A customer should not be able to complete a purchase without indicating the payment method, right? To make sure, I clicked on the edit button, entered the checkout area and it will not let me exit unless I indicate a payment method. Now it says that the customer has not completed checkout. How was she able to complete checkout last night and leave the payment as: "Unknown". This if for order #571357814.

Hello baylor45,

It is possible, though usually unheard of. A buyer could go through the checkout to the point of running into an error message indicating a missing field, so you have gathered their shipping/billing address, but they are still in a state where payment has not been indicated.

I would say perhaps there was an issue with the drop down arrow at the top, but if they were able to choose a shipping option on the page before, the technology is the same, so it should have been just as simple.

It is also possible that there was a transient error in the system that somehow caused it, although it hasn't come up yet so I could not say if that would have been an option for sure yet.
If you contact your buyer to ask them what payment option they choose and they indicate to you they already had done so and did not have trouble using the form, please let us know.
Regards,
Christopher

Emailed the customer but have not had a reply as of yet. Will let you know if I do. Thank you.

Customer emailed me that she paid with her Visa. A quick check of Verisign shows no payment. I emailed her as such. At this point, how can she access her Checkout page to try again?

Hello,

If you edit the WBN to grab that URL for the checkout, or just resend the WBN itself, she can go right to the page where we are awaiting for her to simply choose a payment option and continue.

Christopher

Did so. She went back in and tried again. Guess what...payment is unknown. Yes, the same thing happened again. Am going to contact Verisign also as she is trying to pay by credit card.

OK, it is not Verisign. I bought something from my store with a credit card and all went well. She is going to try a third time but can you PLEASE see if there is a glitch in the cart?

Hello,

The order you referenced is in your archive restore section. Is there a particular reason why you archived it? Do you mind if we restore it, so we can test the problem?

Regards,

Sonya

Sonya: I kept getting a payment unknown and going back and resending the WBN for her (after undoing her checkout). Finally, she switched from Visa to MC. It rejected it the first time and accepted it the second. Archived it because the items were mailed today. I will be glad to unarchive it if you want to mess with it. Who knows what the problem was. Thanks!

Hello,

We would like to test it, so if you could un-archive it that would be great. We won't process anything, or send any notices to your buyer.

Regards,

Sonya

Hi Baylor45,

We are taking a look at this issue right now -- have you had this happen to others or is this the only one?

Regards,

Sonya
