First, many thanks for facilitating the name change. Those of us that joined many years ago never thought our "sign-up" names would travel so far.
Now that my name has changed, I find that the internet search engines are still pointing to my old name. Although I have re-registered all my pages, etc. it will take months for those to start showing. Is there anyway you can forward my old account name to my new one? I would even pay to have that done for the next six months or so.
Unfortunately we cannot forward the old URL to the new one. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner on this. Froogle updates once a day for sure. I'm not sure how often Google updates -- its probably more than that -- we recommend you contact them regarding the URL, they should be able to fix it so it goes to your new store.

OK, thanks anyway. Unfortunately, Google would even think about doing that. But, it shouldn't take more than a couple of months for the old ones to be replaced by the new ones.

It's killing me to see my pages coming up on Google Search in the number one or two position and the link being bad, so here is another question.
If I opened a second account, using my OLD name and paid for a store. Would all those links then go to that store? And then I could forward them to the new name store?
Just trying to figure a work-around. I am using ad words on the pages I come up on hoping that a shopper would try a second time to find me.
Did you try contacting Google? They most likely would update the URLs if they are notified of ones that are now closed. They also have an add URL page which you may want to input your URL to make sure that it comes up in searches.

Sonya: Do I take it that since you did not answer my question: can I open a second store under my old name and point it to my new name that the answer is NO?
As for Google. Actually, you would have to ask them to take the links down as I am not authorized to do so. Read all about it here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/3.html
As the webmaster you can put this info in:
++++++
If you wish to exclude your entire website or a specific section (directory) of your server from Google's index, you can place a file at the root of your server called robots.txt.
To prevent Google and other search engines from crawling your site, place the following robots.txt file in your server root:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
This is the standard protocol that most web crawlers observe for excluding a web server or directory from an index. More information on robots.txt is available here: http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/norobots.html.
++++
And, I have already submitted to all the Search Engines (see my first post). I do know from years of experience that it will take up to six months for my Vendio pages to reach the top again.
So, thank you for your response but it did not answer my question. Additionally your suggestion that Google would remove the site is incorrect and I have already re-submitted but it will take months for the results to show up. Ok, hopefully now you will see that I know what I am talking about and just answer the question about opening another store with my old name, OK?
Regards,
Beth

You cannot open up a store back with your old name since you have changed it.
I will look into this issue further to see if there is something that we can do on our end. It doesn't hurt to contact Google customer service, technically you are the owner of the store so if the link is no longer available, you can give them the correct one.

Thanks Sonya. I appreciate it. Since I am not using the old name, I don't see why someone couldn't?
As for Google, they don't have the staff to monitor the 4 billion pages they index and change listings. In fact they say that. They will give the webmaster code to stop the offending page from showing up but they won't change anything.

Just recived this email. This is what I am talking about. And, just to make sure I emailed Google about changing all my pages. CAnnot do it. Eventually (3 to 6 months) the old pages will drop off and new ones will repopulate. Here is the email I just received:
Dear Sirs,
Your site came up while searching "eBay" so while there I spent some
time enjoying your vast listings.
Having no idea how it was your listings suddenly appeared I have been
trying Ebay by seller, Yahoo Search and Google Search but can only find
a listing of your site on Google but cannot access it there. The
message is something like " no Vendio listings on URL". I did have
enough sense to write down your full e-mail address when first viewing
your store so hope this reaches you. Please let me know how to find
your site once again. Oscar

I have checked on this issue for you. Unfortunately since we do not control Google's cache results, you will need to contact Google again about this issue. We submit a daily feed to Froogle, so if someone where to search for you on Froogle they should be able to locate you and not return your old store. I've performed a froogle search and came up with your new store, and no references to your old store. You might want to consider putting some text in your store stating 'formerly known as baylor45' in case this helps you with Google searches.
First, if someone was going to make a change on the pages for google, it would have to be (as I have already provided written proof above), the webmaster not me.
Second, as I have already stated (a couple of times) Google is not going to change a couple of pages out of the 4 billion they monitor.
All I want is to point the baylor45 store to the new one. Why can't you let me open a SECOND store under the old name.
RIGHT NOW, when you click on an old link it goes to this:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sorry, there is no Vendio store at this URL.
Please click the Search Stores tab to search for a specific item in other Stores.
Learn how to create your own store and start making money now!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
By the way, you are welcome for the free advertising I am providing you.
Not to hurt anyone's feelings but as I re-read this thread and some of the others I wonder if you really understand the questions people are asking. I know that I have explained my situation and asked the same question numerous times.
THE QUESTION IS (the asked 3/16): Can I open a second store under my old name.
AND PLEASE DON'T ASK ME TO CONTACT GOOGLE AGAIN...PLEASE.
AND I HAVE GONE FROM HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN SALES/WEEK TO ZERO DUE TO THIS. NOT ONE OF MY SALES HAVE EVER COME FROM FROOGLE.
Thanks
Beth

Unfortunately you cannot open a second store under your old name as the old name was changed to your new name. I did answer this question on the 17th. I am sorry if you feel that we do not understand the questions asked, we do our best to answer all questions and we strive to solve the user issues that come up. I have checked on this for you and we cannot do anything about Google's cached pages.

Ah, now I understand. The manner in which you articulated the answer lead me to believe you could not open a "store back up"...implying to me reversing the previous process.
I wanted a second store with the old name. I am now assuming that for time immortal no one can ever open a store with my old name, interesting.
