I can't figure this out ... I want to make a simple change to the background color of my template. How do I do this? I tried going into the Template Editor but all that allows is changing the color scheme. I don't want to change the scheme, I just want to enter a hex code to change the brown background color only. Edit CSS and Edit HTML produced no results either. Hellllp please!

Hello,

If you do not want to change the entire color scheme, then you would need to do this for each individual section of your Store (where you want to make the change). To do this, please to go the Template Editor. Then click on the section where you want to change the color and select "Edit Color". Then either click on the color you would like to use, or enter the code into the box at the top.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks for the quick response! I appreciate the step-by-step instructions.

I realize I should have given you my store address so you can see what I mean. It's www.vendio.com/stores/UncommonFinds32086 It's the dark brown background I want to change.

I can't get this to work all the way ... in the Template Editor, when I click on the dark brown background, it won't let me edit (there are no red lines like the ones which appear around the other sections). When I click on another section, I see what you're talking about, "Edit Color." But I found below this is "Backgrounds --> Replace Backgrounds". I thought that would work but it only asks me for an image rather than allowing me to choose a color. So I picked a green textured background from my hard drive, but it only partially changed! If you look at my store, notice how only a small area at the top is now green textured, the rest of the background is still brown. This seems very odd! Is there a way to get it to replace the ENTIRE dark brown background?

thank you
: )

Hello,

The background option is actually for a background image (rather than to replace the entire background color). I apologize for the confusion. The brown that is off to the sides would need to be changed by selecting a different color scheme, unfortunately. If you are very good with HTML code you should also be able to do this by manually editing the HTML code. However, the specifics of what to edit are unfortunately beyond what we would be able to help you with there. You may edit individual HTML files in the Template Editor by going to "Advanced" --> "Enable Advanced Mode" --> and then you can browse for the individual files in this section.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks, Nathan. There is nothing in the "Enable Advanced Mode" relating to the background, and I can't find any other way to manually edit the HTML code ... if I could, I would go in and change the background's hex color. What did you mean when you said "the specifics of what to edit are unfortunately beyond what we would be able to help you with there"?

Hello,

I apologize for the confusion. What you are trying to do (change the background color for your entire Store without using the option provided to change the color scheme) requires advanced HTML knowledge on the level of a website designer. The specifics of how to do this are unfortunately beyond what we are able to help you with here.

Regards,
Nathan

Ooooooh! I figured it out! In my particular template (Nature), I had to edit the CSS in the Template Editor. Don't know why I couldn't find that before.

Advanced
Enable Advanced Mode
Edit CSS
skins/green/style

Where it says "background" in the coding I just entered my own hexidecimal color. (I've left it as the original brown for now because I'm still experimenting with finding the right color.)

This is a breakthrough. (Time to shut down, it's nearly 2:00 a.m.)
