I have an item that no one has ever been able to tell me anything about. I have had antique dealers look at it and no one has ever seen one and I have no idea where to go to find out what it is worth.
It is in two pieces and is made from something similar to chalkware/plaster but looks more like stone. It has a dome shaped lid and a shallow bottom. On the bottom you can barely read some wording because of the softness of the chalkware/plaster. It LOOKS like it says CAHN and then under that it says
"iceless cooler company chicago, Il"
this is embossed in the bottom. It is a strange piece. We have taken some pictures of it but not sure where to go with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help.

It may be worthwhile seeking out the members of any antique bottle collectors clubs in your area.
Many of the collectors take a great deal of interest in things other than bottles and this item may fall within some ones sphere of knowledge. I would be particularly keen to make contact with any clubs in the Chigago area.
Being in Australia I can't give you any information on clubs in your part of the world. You will have to do that yourself, but my experience here with bottle clubs is that they are in the main very helpful and are a storehouse of knowledge about the most amazing items of paraphenalia.
Good luck!

Thanks, Bob!! = )
I will try looking around in the Chicago area. It is such a strange piece to try to describe....it is fairly big...and....just weird. LOL.
Thanks again,

Try Kovel.com. There are an antique ID site. I have found it VERY useful when trying to ID some of the things I have. The site can also give you dates of when an item was made. It is worth a try. I think you can email them with a foto. Good Luck!
