How would I let the customer know that I have received the payment that they have sent me. I dont want to inform them that I have shipped, since I have not shipped yet. I just want to let them know I have received their payment, and will ship shortly.
Sorry for the delay. There are no tools in the post sale mangement system to send just a note saying you have payment, prior to shipping the item. There are no workarounds to this using the post sale tools either, for now you will need to email them directly to let them know.
We will log a suggestion for you, to look into adding such a feature down the road.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't one of the other message boxes, such as the "request feedback" or "payment reminder," be customized to fulfill this function? I've been thinking of doing this since the message boxes were changed from having a fixed subject line to having a customizable subject line. Is there any unknown or hidden problem that would prevent this from being a workaround?

Hi Abqsales,
Unfortunately, the only reminder that comes close to this is the shipment one that can be accessed through your fulfillment checklist (it is step 6). However, that one is a received payment, item is shipped reminder. I can log a request for a payment reminder for you.

Been there done that on this topic....I was just thinking that maybe Outlook Express (what I am using), can have a mail "Rule" setup to reply to all emails that I receive from PayPal with the subject line "Notification of Payment Received" ....reply with a very general payment received email. might have to setup a few rules for pending e-checks and cleared e-checks. don't think it is very necessary for a snail mail payment but, can do the same with all other online payment services. what do ya think?

Yeah sounds cool, but how would you know who to send the email to. The emails come from Paypal and not the sender right????

Actually, PayPal sends the e-mail, but the e-mail address of the person who sent the money is in the "From" field.
If you click the "Reply" button in your messaging software, it will address it to the person who sent you the funds.
Even though the note on the bottom says "Please do not reply to this e-mail."
Of course, the new notices are full of HTML and that is a pain to send back... I have built a function in my Access data base that sends the note.

I'm inclined to agree that there should be a customer notification email that payment has been received.
Not so much for PayPal etc, but very useful for checks and such where there is a hold. Lets buyer know payment here and being held for 10 (or whatever) business days.
The other auction managers I've personally used (Shooring Star, Channel Advisor) have this as a very basic feature. Besides, it's just good old common courtesy, IMHO.
Anybody else want to voice their vote to add weight to this issue?

You are very correct that it should be a standard feature. You may get negative feedback, cause the buyer has not heard from you within a few days.
What do you all think????
I am going to try that idea with the replies in outlook, and see if it helps.

I do a fair amount of sales on the weekend an I hear "not heard from you within a few days" every week. They don't hear from me until I have shipped the item and sent email to them with track confirmation #. The Outlook rule will work but I would rather look for a service that provides this feature...my feedback is growing with the help of AW but it can be torn down by something as basic as this.
