Hello Susan,
The "type" indicates whether the message is unread/read, or a reply - this depends on whether you are viewing incoming or sent messages. The "flag" indicates that you have flagged a message for follow-up - when you do this, a copy will go into your inbox as a reminder and you will see a disk icon under the flag column. The flag for follow-up option is available when you are responding to an incoming message.
As far as the customers with no state listed, I spot-checked a few and did not find any with an address. Can you provide an example, and let us know where to look?

Hello Susan,
The issue with the state not appearing for customers imported with address information is being fixed now, and these should appear shortly.
As for flags, there are actually currently three flags; a diskette icon with an arrow (this is the "flagged for follow-up" icon), a paperclip icon (this indicates an attachment), and a diskette icon with no arrow (this indicates a saved draft.)
I hope this helps!
Note - we removed your prior post because it contained the email addresses of your customers.

I noticed the same problem with the state not being imported. I had to insert it from the state drop-down option. Luckily I'm new and had only one customer.
