Sure hope that this is a false alarm. There isn't enough traffic to make it worth it. Might have to list at ebay again.

Yahoo announced the end of the "seller reward" program will be Jan. 10, the day listing fees begin. Yeehaw (sarcasm), you can now post more than 1000 ads a month as long as you're willing to pay these fees

I'm sorry- it's probably my fault. I listed a bunch of auctions on Yahoo this morning.
I think I killed Gold's too- they closed up shop last month right after I listed a bunch over there.
Where should I list next?

They are trying to charge for something they don't deliver on! The reason we felt FVFs would work is because then at least you HAVE a sale to work with. How can anyone afford to pay list fees on a site where items often have to be listed for weeks and months to sell? This was an extremely stupid move and plays right into ebaYs hands. Well Amazon started the ruination of their auction site by changing the default on the listing order - looks like Yahoo is taking the same self destructive path!!! -Rosalinda

QUESTION: "How can anyone afford to pay list fees on a site where items often have to be listed for weeks and months to sell?"
ANSWER: THEY CAN'T!
I'm STUNNED. Do they not have ANY CONCEPT how HIGH those fees are for the low level of bidding activity on Yahoo Auction???????? A nickel, maybe....but 20 cents, 35 cents, 75 cents, $1.50, 40 and 75 cents more for reserves....THEY'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!
Guess I'll finally have time to build my website, 'cause I sure ain't listing on Amazon's Auction mess, and I hate to give eBay my money just on GENERAL PRINCIPLE.

Listen to this one!!!
When Yahoo changed the rules that even buyers had to have a CC# on record to buy. I quit buying at that point (had no choice). Well two days ago I decided to go ahead and give'em one against my bad judgement. It clearly said on the signup page I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED. Well THEY LIED!!! AND THEY DID!
They chared my CC $1 flatout. I have one of those VISA cards I can track all transactions in realtime. This is what I found.
January 01, 2001 YAHOO *AUCTIONS 408-530-5151 CA US $1.00
I did not authorize this. Are the people that run Yahoo CRAZY. This is CC theft. I will never buy anything ever again on Yahoo and if they sell my info Like Amazon is doing to thier people. I don't know what I'll do but it won't be nice!

What is going on here? Complaints over a measly $0.20 or $0.35 fee (if you start your auctions off low, as you should)? I list about 100 auctions a month on Yahoo and sell a very good share of them. Why? Because I sell QUALITY items and I start off my auctions at a low price.
That's part of the problem here -- too many users starting auctions off at too high a price and too many users posting things that they know wont sell. Listing fees will eliminate both those problems.
I'm reading a lot of the arguments posted here and I can't believe some of the moronic things that are being said. You yourselves speak of the low quality items that you put on Yahoo! auctions and how you auction off your high quality goods on ebay. And then you complain that your sell-through on Yahoo is low??? You're the same people that are auctioning crap at a starting price of 115% of market price. Of course you're not selling anything!! Who wants to buy your grandma's recipe for pudding for $24.99? Why don't you try listing something that is appealing to anyone but an idiot?
To all of you, I say: take your auctions elsewhere. Its people like you that Yahoo! auctions doesn't need anyway. I'm sure that listing fees were instituted with you in mind. Once you're gone, the site will be cleaner, the listings will be of higher quality, more people will see my listings, and my sell-through will be even higher.
January 10th, I wont be saying goodbye to Yahoo, I'll be saying goodbye to all of you crappy sellers that have posted nothing but nonsense on these message boards.

It's safe to say the Jackwolfe is a Yahoo shareholder. Only a Yahoo shareholder can come close to stomaching the fees Yahoo will be implementing.

JackWolfe has a valid point. I've been selling on Yahoo for well over a year, but when I'm looking to buy I go to eBay. No way I wade through all the overpriced listings on Yahoo. Too many sellers listing the same items over and over at ridiculous prices.
I would prefer that Yahoo start with a smaller fee to "clean up" the listings, but I believe we will see more bidders when more sellers start listing at realistic prices that are competive with eBay.

Spreland, you're dreaming.
The listing fees Yahoo has proposed are so STEEP that even the *good* sellers with GOOD, REASONABLY PRICED merchandise cannot *begin* to pay that much to list on Yahoo. There isn't enough bidding activity, and it takes way too long to sell anything priced more than 10% of value. Those eBay sellers you say have such "realistic prices" either have active bidding that raises the final price to a reasonable level, or they lose their shirt. Yahoo sellers generally have learned not to lose their shirt.
You aren't going to see any BIDDERS on Yahoo because there aren't going to be any SELLERS on Yahoo paying those listing fees. Mark my words---it's over for Yahoo Auction.

granee.....I don't disagree with you. I started another thread (Send A Message - Boycott) because I don't believe Yahoo has enough bidding activity to justify 20 cents to $2.25 per listing. But judging from my early success with Yahoo (before the massive accumaltion of overpriced items listed on there now) I believe JackWolfe has a valid point. Either way, I wouldn't be overly concerned. There will always be another free acution site looking to compete with the established sites. Lycos is still free.
