I just sent a message to Yahoo telling them a final value fee on all successfully closed and transacted auctions would be more fair for sellers than listing fees. I urge other sellers to do the same. Listing fees at this time on Yahoo are absurd; yet, a final value fee would be more palatable for sellers and would be better business for Yahoo. If we must help Yahoo raise revenue, at least a final value fee is equitable for us sellers at this slow, slow time in Yahoo Auctions's development.

I agree with this totally and would stay with Yahoo if they charged a final value fee and improved the quality of their service with this money. However, I can't see this happening in the near future. As it stands now I am searching for a new site and taking over 1000 listings with me.

The first thing I did when I got the notice from Yahoo is write them and tell them that the bidding activity on their site does not justify paying a listing fee and that charging a final value fee on closed sales would be more reasonable. For a 20 cent listing fee, I'd rather give Ebay the extra nickel and get some REAL activity on my auctions. I thanked them for their past service and told them I'd be taking my 300+ listings at any one time to another site.

Ditto. Yahoo is going to get worse now. I usually list a lot of rare items under $10 and customers thank me for making it available. Now they'll have to search on some other site. The listing fee would hit me especially hard. If that's what they intended - to rid the site of small items - then they'll succeed.

AMEN!!!!! I myself told them if I were paying I would go back to eBay where the service IS GOOD!!!!! I am not paying for the kind of service I have received in the two years I have been selling. I could overlook a lot when it was free but this is ridiculous! I have been searching for new sites and will email all previous customers (many of whom are repeat) and tell them where I have gone. I hope others do the same.

I sell mainly crafts and sports/hobby cards. I have to have them on site for several months sometimes to find the right buyer. A final value fee wouldn't hurt me but I can't sell small $$$$$ items with a constant listing fee. And I too have found the customers have been great, thanking me for having my items at reasonable prices!!!!!

Again, as I and others have said, Yahoo won't charge Final Value Fees because they know that % successful closing auctions are very small. Plus add deadbeats and the sellers who apply for their FVF credits. This means they must hire more ppl for review and customer service .. godforbid!

They want their money upfront with listing fees.

You will immediately see the number of listings on Yahoo evaporate. I have kept about 150 high quality items on the site at all time despite the fact that there are virtually no bidders there. I did it only because it was free. At this very moment I have 150 items in Yahoo with a grand total of 2 BIDDERS. This is not junk either. They are mint condition music collectibles (CD's, records, memorabilia etc). I list the very same items on Ebay and they sell over 70% of the time. My success rate on Yahoo is less than 2%. I would not pay 1 penny to list an item there. I would pay a final value fee and I think they will be forced to go there as they will find themselves with no paid listings.
