I have been selling on Yahoo for close to two years now and am quite upset by the changes. I have been looking through the alternatives and this is what I have come up with. There are 3 sites that have final value fees: MSN, Excite and Comewin.com
There were 2 without any fees: BidBay.com and AuctionAddict.com
I have heard Lycos doesn't have fees but upon research there found that to be untrue. Before I make my choice I will be looking into it farther but I feel that if enough people go to one site and let their regular customers know we can make an impact. I hate to see the internet auctions gone as I am a stay at home mother and sell my crafts and other miscellaneous. I enjoy the people I meet and the fact I can make a little extra (little the key word) on the side. I am quite disappointed in Yahoo as I remained loyal to them. Thanks for your time.

I have been with yahoo over 2 years also. I have a homespun business that I built by being honest and courteous. I'm rather proud of my almost 500 rating under judyc1017 and worked hard to make sure I get good ratings. I am VERy dissapointed also since I supplement my social security with this income. I am searching out new sites also. I usually maintain items upwards of 700 and can not afford to pay the ridiculous charges either. I feel that going to a new auction site that has not proven itself will only being my income down. Unforutnately; ebay is the only other site that is proven. I sell there also under the listed handle you see here. I don't know what the answer is. I realize yahoo is on a fast track to bankruptcy, and they are entitled to charge something for services provided. I think .25 per item would be fair since they have such low traffic. They also have the worst support system of any auction site and that is a fact! I refuse to give in to their demands and will stealthily keep searching for the answer.....

Lycos does not charge listing fees or final value fees. What is your problem?

Aloha njkollektor, this is off-topic, but I read something in your Yahoo "About Me" that I wanted to ask you a question about. You can contact me by email or I can leave the question here. Let me know. Take care and talk to you soon,

I too looked into Lycos auctions and came away with the impression that there are fees. This statement came from their site: "Merchandising Option Fees" and "Listings Fees" are non-refundable. So is Lycos lying about their own fees or is Spreland full of s***?

I have listed and sold with Lycos for approximately 6 months and they are not charging listing fees or seller transaction fees (final value fees). I'm sure this is subject to change.
Forshoppin's "research" and the "impression" you came away with are understandable, but if you take another look at their fees it states: Auction Listing Fees - FREE. Seller Transaction Fees - FREE. Bold Listing - $2. Home Page Listing (featured)- $50

I think the confusion here is that Lycos USED to have FVFs. I remember using them years ago, and didn't stay long because they were talking about posting fees as well. If they had traffic then, I would have stayed. But if they dropped all fees, I think I'll give them another chance.

Cityauctions is also a good site, but they always lose my name and/or password. I'm just sick or re-registering over there.

Listing on Lycos gets you listed on all the FairMarket Network sites (Excite, NBCi, MSN, bCentral, etc.). There are no listing fees (as pointed out, if you actually go to the Fee Schedule page, everything is "FREE", except Bold and Featured listings). The other two sites I'm going to try are DutchBid.com (formerly Gold's) and eDeal.com (no listing fees, but they do charge FVF).

always pickersangel everywhere

after the Yahoo fiasco last night, I took a look at a number of auction sites. My vote is for two of them Lycos looks good but the one that I really like is bidbay.com both are free. Lycos category set up is not that great but from what I understand, when you list an auction on Lycos, it is also listed on a number of other sites, which could be confusing but profitable. Bidbay's categories, are alot better and they have a chat area right on their site. I might try them both out and see what happens
