Does anyone out there have any solid, informed opinions on BidBay? Been reading and reading and reading (well you get the point!) these boards the past few days and getting lots of info.
I am listing with eBay and had just taken a few things over to yahoo last week to test the waters when this fiasco hit so I pulled them.
Looking for another viable option to diversify and BidBay looks interesting but don't know anything about it yet, from the perspective of a seller, such as exposure level...site performance...buyer performance, etc...

Well.... it's free and it's style is similar to Ebay's
few months ago, they announced that after the enough of the month, they are going to charge fees (promotion gimmick) and now, they quit that
I used them for 2 months, listed about 300 auctions, and only got 2 bids.
don't check back everyday to see if you got bids, it's very very slow in sales.
Again, like I said in other posts, If we direct our customers towards the site you chose perhaps its popularity will increase

I have looked at several other sites and BidBay is looking the most viable. It is kind of slow but looks fairly new. I think if enough people go over there and let their repeat customers know where they have gone, etc it could be built up.

Thanks all for your information and comments! I guess I should just jump in somewhere and try some new sites. The only two that sounded like possibilities to me from what I've been reading here are BidBay & Lycos, neither of which I have visited yet. Time to start the research I guess!

AuctionAddict.com looked pretty interesting too. Another newer site but looked user friendly. Haven't had enough time to try it but worth keeping in mind.

I haven't had any success on BidBay - and I tested it using items which sell like hot cakes on Yahoo and eBay.
I have had some success on Lycos, and will be moving some auctions there - will also be testing other sites.
REMEMBER:
TAKE YOUR BUYERS WITH YOU - FIGHT BACK...TELL YOUR BUYERS IN YOUR YAHOO AUCTIONS WHERE YOU ARE GOING:
Dear Buyer: Because of the continual changes being made by Yahoo Auction Management, without concern for their buyers or sellers; because Yahoo has refused to change their jumbled form of searching the listing; and because of Yahoo’s decision to charge for listings, it will be impossible for us to continue to post on Yahoo. WE WILL BE MOVING OUR AUCTION TO LYCOS (or whatever auction you will move to).
DON'T delete your auctions, tell the buyers where you are moving to...take your following with you - that is the best answer! Realize the buyers have got to be told where you are moving to so they can follow!!

I hear you on letting the bidders know what is going on. I have told all my recent customers and also emailed my regular customers. They have no clue but are just as upset when they find out. Their emails and comments on chat boards will help. Yahoo needs to know that NONE of us like this. My plan is to try the three sites and see where I do the best. If they aren't working, MNS and Excite Auctions both charge only a Final Value Fee.

Don't know if anybody saw this yet. Someone (sorry, forgot who) posted this yesterday and I found it to be interesting, if not TOTALLY warped!
Yeah, I am also thinking of looking at msn auctions just for kicks. msn seems to be growing so maybe their auction site is looking better too...who knows!
