I've just completed my sales records for 2000. I've noticed a hugh drop in sales in November and December with a decline beginning in September. I know many variables can affect these numbers. However, I'm concerned that the Auction Experience Enthusiam may be fading with the public. Could it also be the negative publicity Yahoo has received in the financial realm. I would think that Yahoo would really want to find ways to keep sellers and ways to attrack customers. I can't pay listing fees on low priced items if they have to be relisted multiple times to sell to a declining buyer base. Please share with me if you have noticed a buyer fall-off over the last few months.

I noticed a drop in buyers about the time Yahoo implemented the credit card requirements. I then added my email to the auctions and found that many potential buyers were looking at the auctions but because of the restrictions could not bid. About 1/4 of my sales were on the side after that.

Traditionally, auction sales drop in those months (November-December), and regain momentum in January. After this, they usually remain strong through April/May, then taper off some as vacations set in. There is usually a Fall post-Summer resurgence which starts to drop off late-October.

At least in my market.

I had just the reverse my sales were down to nothing untill November and they picked up pretty good untill all this chargeing fees stuff happened since then no sales.

I haved noticed in my surffing other auction sites to see what chances are my items will sell on some of these other sites I found three people who bought items from me over the year with listing selling on Epier one of the buyers was a repete buyer who bought well over 20 Items from me over last spring and summer on yahoo.

So this shows that many of your buyers on yahoo even new with no feed back are sellers and these buyers are selling on other auction sites.

I cant say they moved from yahoo because of fees but the fact remains these buyer are selling elsewhere and havent bought from me on yahoo inover 8 months.

Also found one of my deadbeat buyers from last winter with listings on dutchbid so even some of the dead beat buyers on yahoo are sellers with negitive feed back showing on yahoo moved to List on other sites.

I have been selling over a year not much of a buyer but I do buy when I find a good deal on what I need I find I tend to bid only on auction sites where I sell, I sell on yahoo and ebay and thats where I buy as well.

I buy as much as I sell on Yahoo. And I am leaving.

I've contacted those that I normally buy from, and we have agreed to conduct further business on a non-auction basis. So at least THAT worked out to my advantage!
