1) Any dealer who uses "WOW" In their heading...

2) Any dealer who uses "RARE" in any heading of an item of which there are at least 50 posted on the site at any given time...

3) Any dealer who puts his heading in all caps...

4) Any dealer who employs nonsensical English in their posting...

5) You think of some...

Any dealer who sells in Yahoo? Because you are unhappy everyone is supposed to agree with your thinking? May the Auction Gods have mercy on your soul.

I have found the complaints and reasons for using yahoo while it was free to be quite comical, the reasoning for leaving is even more amusing, For sellers to clearly state that when Yahoo is free they used it for the slow moving items that sit for months then they will Pay ebay to list the hot items that dont sit that long. Reminds me of the old crude saying.

"FAT GIRLS ARE FUN TO RIDE BUT NOT TO BE SEEN WITH?"

Looks like the Fat Lady (Yahoo)is Finally singing and watching the the users and abusers scramble to move items elsewhere only to be hit with more problems, fee's and downtimes.

Since the 10th the improvements in Yahoo have been outstanding, well worth the listing fee's. I myself will remain in yahoo, your oppinion of me as a seller in Yahoo is of no importance, what is important is that yahoo has finally taken steps to keep the likes of attitudes such as yours out of the auction community.

Since I'm mostly a buyer my opinion might not count but here goes anyway. I've bought on several auction sites with no problems. I buy more on ebay but I like yahoo too. As far a headings all in caps, they are more noticable. My elderly neighbor, who has eye problems, tells me they are just easier for him to read.

An honest question (since we have not been on Yahoo for a verrrrry long time) to rollanotherone: What improvements have you noticed on Yahoo that has warranted the new fees? We are thinking of letting go of Ebay to find a site that may be less expensive, but more importantly a site that is not always having problems. We understand that all sites have problems occasionally, but every week?? Please let us know ok? Thanks

Improvements on YAHOO?? Rollanotherone - If I may...My views of improvements on YAHOO since you ask...

1. More sales for me in past week...

2. A link under the "rate buyer" that says "file complaint for non-payment" - this link appears automatically when the auction is eligible for request for reimbursement due to non-payment by winner...

3. Less duplicates (SPAM) in catagories.

4. Less items in catagory that do not belong - one catagory reduced from 21,000 items to 11,000+ items, and what is left resembles the antiques, Miscelleneous, Other instead of recent keychains, statues, pins, etc.

5. The best Picture Gallery of items of ANY auction...They had this before, but since I've been looking for FREE Auction replacement, but I keep coming back to this feature as being the most buyer friendly...That is what selling is all about-where are the buyers!

6. TRUE listing of items by ending times - I tried Ebay, and they have gone to the sorry sorting of varying times - Gosh I hate to buy there!...

and probably more improvements, but that is all I can think of right off the top...

Sellers whose EOA terms are so detailed and strict that you feel like you should hire an attorney to interpret them for you.

Any dealer whose description is "What you see is what you get, the picture tells it all", etc.

Thank you royrogers! We were wondering if there were any NPB on Yahoo. Does it work pretty well? I mean when you view the feedback, do you also see the negs? Thanks. I've tried looking for negs, but I guess I've just been looking in the wrong places, or the sellers on Yahoo are a heck of alot better than on Ebay!

Oh Boy two questions, to the Buyer, your neighbor sounds like they might like the sort by photo option in yahoo, I like it because I have dyslexia, there is nothing wrong with caps being used in my oppinion because it does help in my case also, unfortunately when using caps People think you are SCREAMING I guess it is the law of net. Not all of us have large monitors either so caps do come in handy.

The benefits of yahoo? My word you should try one or two items, we have been back and forth, two years ago yahoo was a bit of a mess, so we went to amazon for a while, then decided to try yahoo again this past fall while it was still free so I could get used to using it.

As a buyer, I like the sort by photo's feature, I also use this feature to help me identify some stamps and coins that leave me at a standstill(I have close to 140 countries in stamps)

You can amend feedback, for instance you get a quick payer, you leave excellent then they nail you with bad for such reasons as not receiving item in two days, etc... you can go back and leave them a negative stating they paid fast but expected the impossible.

Yahoo allows you to cancel your winners bid if they do not respond to your winning email in 5 days, if you have another high bidder on the item, yahoo will automatically send them an offer without them being obligated since they may have gone elsewhere like many of us do when we are out bid.

You dont need a webhost for photo's, yahoo allows 3 photo's with up to 1.5mb total space per listing.

Yahoo now has a link on the winning closed auctions to report deadbeats,no searching for the right email address to report a problem.

Yahoo does NOT give out email addresses, your personal info is safe, your bidders are safe. You have to win an item or sell an item to get email addresses, ending the spammers. If someone wants to ask a question it is posted on the auction page, If it is a stupid moronic question, dont answer, it wont show up on the page once you answer a question it will be available for all to view.

Rarely is there downtime, I have alot more free time now, I used to sit and fight the system over and over with other auctions, sitting is not my forte' I want to get things listed and go do something else.

I can go on but you really need to try a few items and go thru the whole process and maybe check the guidelines etc.

I also buy in ebay, it is a good site it is just too fast of a pace for me to sell in, I would never tell you to switch, especially if you are doing well, I have noticed that most of my buyers these past few months have been New or international, which I love, to me that means the New traffic is coming. Some people dont like new buyers, I love them!

By all means beofre you go anywhere make sure they have the catagories you need to get buyers to your items, once in a while I have no choice but to sell an item occasionally in ebay, which I am not knocking, like you in yahoo it has been so long that I dont know how to get around in ebay, I sold an item in ebay last spring, it sold then I didn't know how to contact the winner or leave feedback for a thanks the information wasn't on my page anymore after a few days. Fortunately the buyer helped me out.=) It is just scarey with the big fish over there.=)=)

rollanotherone: Thank you so much for the info. We are currently trying to list in Amazon (which we did without really considering all of our options) and are already having problems. Not necessarily with Amazon maybe... But between you and royrogers we feel much more confident in listing with Yahoo. The last time we listed, which as I said, was over a year ago, we had some trouble with the buyers. However, we cannot say that we have never had trouble with buyers on Ebay either. I guess there are idiots every where these days. Once again, thank you for the info!! We hope to see you on Yahoo soon.

I TOO HAVE NOTICED A POSITIVE CHANGE WITH YAHOO JUST OVER THE PAST WEEK - SORT OF LIKE A STRONG FRESH BREEZE IS BLOWING THROUGH IT, CLEARING ALL THE POLLUTION OUT.

P.S. HOW ARE MY CAPS? NOT TOO PRESUMPTUOUS, I HOPE!

PRUDHOES, I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY THAT!

THERE'S NOTHING MORE ANNOYING THAN THE ENTIRE LISTING IN BLOCK CAPS, ESPECIALLY ONE MEGA-LONG 1000 WORD PARAGRAPH IN REGULAR TEXT.

Even worse, are listings that sound like if you don't follow the seller's strict TOS (strongly in the seller's favor), that you get the mafia or a hit man to come an get you, and of course negative feedback.

Some sellers seem to think they can list anything, people will bid and drive up the price, immediatly pay, never ask questions, etc.

They might as well say "Everyone, bid really high, don't email me ever, just pay by BidPay right after the auction, or I'll post negative feedback and file a NPB alert, and I'll see about sending you your item when I can if you follow through"

Honestly, some sellers would have you think they're doing the buyer a favor by letting them bid on their auction.

sellers who start the bidding at $1 with a $300 reserve.

Sellers who pay retail and hope to find some sucker to bid even higher.

Now that they have to pay for the listing, I think there won't be so many of these.

I agree with your 4 Rebel. I skip right over all cap titles AND bold titles. Very irritating to my eyes.

Any dealer who doesn't state the shipping amount

Any dealer who says "I only ship Priority mail" on items that weigh 1-8 ounces

Any dealer who says "Insurance is mandatory" on $1-3 items that are non-breakable

Any dealer who says "flat shipping rate per item, I do not combine costs

Any dealer who says "I only accept money orders" on 10 cent to $3 items

Any "dealer" who lures you in with an expensive item at a low opening but the description says some crap like 'now that I have your attention I just want to tell you how you can get paid to surf the web using my referral' or some other sleazy spam.

Sellers and buyers who keep your email for other marketing ventures such as this new Berry Diet.

Everyday I have this in my email, everyday I hit the remove my email, everyday it comes back!! I am 5'4" weight 108, I would die if I took your product, I have to gain 15 pounds not lose it.

I can't stand sellers who make their customers pay $4.95 shipping for a teeny tiny little item. Some of these sellers charge shipping of $4.95 and sometimes $6.00 regardless of what the friggin item is......puleeeze...... Cruise the beanie baby section and you will see it right away.

I also frown on sellers with very expensive items starting at $1 and a reserve price of $400 or even higher.......who do they think they are kidding?? As though I am going to sit there like a fool and bid $1 at a time to find the reserve price??? yeah right....

Postal Insurance is not just for breakage - Postal Insurance is to ensure that the item arrives at all...Some sellers have USPS experience in shipping certain small or specifically shaped items that do not make it to the winner - they provide insurance in the S&H to ensure winner avoids risk of loss due to carrier misshipment...

Other sellers raise prices on items to self-insure and do not use postal insurance...

Other sellers don't insure either thru postal or self-insure - Buyer is just out!

Personally I pay postal insurance on all items that I win - regardless of price & size.

I have nothing against insurance, I know it serves different purposes.
I was only referring to those sellers that list very small dollar items but insist you buy it.

I see nothing wrong with a statement of "if you do not elect to purchase insurance I will not be responsible for loss or damage." Fine with me, I want it to be my choice when I'm the one paying for it.

I'd much rather risk losing a few dollars than paying $1.10 for ins. just in case, waiting for both parties to fill out claim forms then spend 60 days trying to collect my $5. I have shipped roughly 500 packages and had 0 lost and 1 damaged. I'd never insist anyone buy insurance, I don't even mention it unless the buyers total is over $30. If they decline, I buy it myself in those cases.

"if you do not elect to purchase insurance I will not be responsible for loss or damage" - But unless a dealer can prove they shipped an item, they ARE responasible for loss.
