Well, like most of you, I'm concerned with eBay's down time and their increased fees. I have about an 85% sale rate on eBay. Figuring it was time to diversify, I gave Yahoo a try back in November. After three days and seven nasty e-mails from Yahoo bidders (and not a bid to be found in a H@T category), I pulled my auctions and went running back to eBay ~ clicking the heels of my ruby slippers and chanting (there's no place like home, there's no place like home). I actually felt "harassed" by those bidders! So I was wondering... do you experience such a drastic difference in your bidders between auction sites? Is it me? Do I smell? Is it the category? As a buyer, I love Yahoo cause I get my treasures for so much less ~ kind of scares me on the selling side! Can anybody calm my fears??

I think it is just a matter of perception
Yahoo bidders by and large have been very nice, to me.\
But I am so nasty myself I couldn't tell if
they were nasty or not.
I feel you've been dealing with some of momma's
little darlings.

I liked Yahoo because- I could list something until it sold-I like the pictures only feature-liked it being free. I do have more deadbeat bidders, more inexperienced bidders who think-they can change their mind-postage is included in bid price-priority means it ALWAYS comes 2 days after you bid on it-it's not necessary to say what you bought when you send payment.
I have also found that Yahoo sellers have higher starting prices, and I do understand why they do that! But the best opportunity for bargains is to look for items listed in the wrong category, wrong title, holiday weekends, on Ebay.
I'm going to use up my 900+ credits on Yahoo and see if there is any improvement by that time to warrant paying 'real' money to list there. Ask again in 6 months!

bearmom ~ I agree ~ I've found lots of goodies from improper listings on eBay I must admit it made my day! I have some of the greatest bidders on eBay ~ I was shocked by the blatant attitude and lack of respect that was sent to me. I was also corcerned that YAHOO would allow bidders to ask questions worded with such nastiness and let it be posted on the auction for all to see! One "bidder" actually threatened me when I declined his offer to end my auction early ~ can you imagine? I don't end auctions early because I'm a bidder, too, and I would be so upset if a seller closed me out of an auction before I had a chance to bid! I'm here for fun and to help support my much confessed disease. (I'm a shopaholic). Do you have any fun on Yahoo? I LOVE to shop ~ for me, my kids, the dogs, some bidder out there, etc. Since I don't make a fortune selling, I need to be having a good time to make it worthwhile ~ you only go around once! Thanks for your responses !

LOLOL The meanies are slowly being taken care of, these people are everywhere you go, it's not nice to be mean to a new person whether buying or selling, set your rules, stick to your auction guidelines and stand by them, the next meanie I run into will be skinned and eaten for breakfast in your honor.=)

The last two sellers I've dealt with have been Awesome ~ I like to be in good company!

I think maybe it was just rotten luck that your first few yahoo encounters were mean. I have sincerely loved all my Yahoo customers!! My headache customers have all been on Ebay- like the deadbeat who never sent payment to me and then threatened negative feedback if I didn't send the item!! I've encountered about a dozen problem buyers on ebay and 4 or 5 problem sellers, and NONE of either on Yahoo. Even my deadbeats are cooler on Yahoo- they usually at least email & say "sorry, won't be buying that" vs. the ones on Ebay that string me along for months before either paying or completely deadbeating.
The reality is that you are dealing with the public when you sell at any auction site.
Some transactions are just plain gonna go smoother than others, period.
