My son regularly shops Yahoo for guitars. He knows I sell online, and that's about it, so he is not influenced by anything I've told him. I took him to lunch yesterday, and he started talking about some guitar he had seen.
I asked him where he had seen it, and the conversation worked around to online auctions. He said he had checked for one on Yahoo, and I quote: 'There's nothing on there all of a sudden!'
Think any other buyers are thinking that? I might add that the guitar he was looking for runs about $1700, not exactly junk!

bearmom: I have been emailing my customers and letting them know where I have moved my auctions. I have gotten that response from many more than I had anticipated. Things like "I was wondering where the sellers had gone." "Thank you for letting me know. I was looking for you." And I have gotten several replies from some that they have already gone there and here is their new user ID. Let your buyers know where you have moved to because the impact we the sellers are making on Yahoo is bigger than we think.

I also have been notifying my regulars, as well as new customers, that I am moving. I think the majority of the bidders on Yahoo were also sellers. When they left, they also quit shopping.
I am still checking my regular haunts, but I have noticed that everything there is stuff that has been on for a long time. No new listings! It looks like what is left is the free relists, and when they're gone, Yahoo is a ghost town!

I have seen some new listings on Yahoo this weekend. The number of listings in several categories temporarily increased last night - this morning but have been steadily declining since.

You will continue to see some new listings, but that doesn't mean anyone paid for them. I have hundreds of dollars in feedback credit there and will list new items when I acquire them, but only because I don't have to pay real money for the listings.
