I see they just put a big ad up pushing their auction site on their main page.

My initial reaction. TOO LITTLE. TOO LATE.

I agree. Let's face it, what do they have to lose at this point!

I haven't gotten the Auction ad to come up but once (for 2 seconds). The rest of the time it's ads for Pepsi, Ashford Jewelry, 3 DVDs for 49 cents, 3 CDs for 99 cents, vvtv.com, win a spa retreat, win a DVD or 36" TV, win a trip to Tahiti, Yahoo Shopping, Yahoo Billpay, Yahoo Careers, Yahoo Music, Yahoo Real Estate, Yahoo Email, Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Stock Market, etc.

There is an auction link coming in emails from Yahoo addresses also.

Oh, I thought you meant the rotating banner ad! I see what you're talking about now.

Did you notice the "Got Something to Sell? Auction it Now!" below the category and item links??? Do they think they'll replace all of us with THAT enticement???????!!!!!!!

That is an old ad - they've run it many times before.

I hate to admit it, but Yahoo Auctions has a great ad on the back of a baseball price guide magazine. It's of a boy sitting on his bed looking at his baseball cards. Says something like "Get back in touch with your heroes" or something like that.

Haven't the sports cards categories seen one of the largest declines in listings because sellers do not see listing fees in the Yahoo!Auctions little traffic environment as being cost effective?

RebelGuns

I actually thought you meant Yahoo had made a move to compromise!

I don't think ads are going to bring anyone back.

I think anyone not depending on Yahoo sales for income is probably listing on many of the newer or smaller auctions. For those who actually depend on on line sales for income have most likely moved back to eBay - in either case I don't think ads will bring either group back.

'Too little too late' is the correct answer.

You mean YaFool is spamming now. Someone might want to get rid of "their Junk listings now". This sports card seller has gone to Bidville, Epier and some on Ebay. Moving as soon as they drop off Yahoo. Don't intend to re-list with Yahoo ever. They might have had a chance to become No. 1 if they had waited for Ebay to completely cut their own throats. They are well on the way with their increasing fees. I expect to eventually have to pay a sign on fee just to look. Now wouldn't that be interesting?
