Ok, here it is:
Yahoo Listings before 10th Jan: 2 million (roughly on an average)
On a conservative estimate Yahoo will probably be making atleast (on average) 5 Ad impressions per listing. (seller: posting, checking, selling, and if the item is sold -Buyer: bidding, checking, buying)
that makes 1 billion ad impressions. From Yahoo's stature, I guess they must be charging approx 6 cents per ad impressions (again a conservative estimate)
That makes ad revenues of approx $0.6 million before 10Jan.
These are just barebone figures.
Now after listing fees, as of today, yahoo has approx 300,000 listings which makes 90K in ad revenue and an approx 300-400K in listing fees (if at all). This makes a total of $0.45 million or so.
What am I missing here? Correct my estimates figures if I am wrong... I've tried to be as conservative as possible.

hmmm...
Isn't this strange. If you have a website, and you join linkshare, then there are over 100+ companies that promise >5 cents per impression. (and NO these companies are not porno sites). I thought with yahoo's reputation (!?), they could charge much more than 5 cents.

buldag,
your estimate of the no. of impressions per listing is way off the mark. I remember, my listings got an average pof 40-50 page views...that means an average of atleast 40 impressions. You can ask people around here and you will find that the average page views will be around 20-25 or so...Therefore the no of ad impressions/listing should be somewhere around 30 or so.

and how many of those page views were just snoopy sniffers who cant afford the Enquirer stating these comparisons? =p
