Well on February 4th I took the plunge and listed 640 items on Yahoo PAYING for them. I sell celebrity photos and celebrity photo mugs, all items under 10.00. Ebay sell through percentage on my items runs 35-38 percent. Photos have a BIN for 5.99 Photo Mugs all have a BIN for 9.99. I listed 440 photo mugs and and 200 photos. As of this morning auction sales have included 27 photos (16 to one bidder who paid immed via PAYPAL and 15 Photo Mugs, two customers each bought two mugs. Two customers paid via YAHOO payments, others I assume will be mailed payments with unknown deadbeats at this point. Links in my auctions to my website have resulted in 88 hits from YAHOO auctions pages and 12 orders from customers customers who came from YAHOO pages. Will post updates to this.

I have continued to average 13.8 items sold per day from the above mentioned auctions. Actually pleasantly surprised that we were doing quite well with these items. Now the twist. Yahoo has BLOCKED me from listing more auctions. I believe the reason to be that I had inadvertently listed a NUDE photo of Drew Barrymore in the general section without using censor strips. All my other nude photos have censor strips, we just missed this one uploading the wrong JPEG image in the bulk lister. When I went to relist several of my sold items, I was blocked from further selling for violations of TOS and could not list any new auctions. No email from them regarding being blocked from listings. All current auctions are still live, just can't PAY to list any new ones. Yahoo is really shooting themselves in the foot on this one. Because of decent sales, I would have have PAID again to list all 650 auctions when the current listings run out. Seems Yahoo doesn't want free auctions or paid auctions.

zymo,

Please remove the promotional wording from your sig line (the entire first line). I will allow one hour for you to do this. If it hasn't been edited within that time, I will have no choice but to delete your post.

Sorry about that. Removed the first line, is it OK to leave a website link in a signature file ???

ZYMO, I believe that censorship is a judgement call that everyone has to make for themselves. As you have seen fit to post this message publicly, I think further examination is in order. Could you possibly post a photo of the supposedly offense mug shot here for the forum to decide? LOL,

(just kidding, moderator. )

MY RECENT SALES

Lots of sales 50% deadbeats.

I'm getting sick of this entire thing.

Nasty old women and fowl mouthed children.

Poor me

zymo - the TOS which you violated had nothing to do with nudity (check out the mens jeans catagory) but the fact that you have a link to your web page. Any and all auctions with such link are deleted and in some cases, the whole user ID deleted. You are one of the lucky ones if they just blocked you from listing.

forshoppin,

I don't believe the auctions were ended because of a link to a website. Check some "featured sellers" and you'll find the overwhelming majority have links to their websites, one is even running auctions on their website.

dimview ... you are correct. When I was admonished by eBay for including a "link" to my very own email address, I asked them about the links to lister's web sites that offer additional product. eBay told me they were OK.

Go figure eh

I received no email notification as to a Website Link from Yahoo. Just that two auctions were terminated for TOS issues. I have 500+ active auctions still running and I am blocked from listing new auctions. As one of VERY few who paid for auctions I find this whole thing trivial.

zymom,

I'd send an e-mail to CS asking for a refund of the listing fee on the two ended auctions inasmuch as you contracted for a listing of a specified duration, Yahoo!Auctions failed to perform on the contract.

I realize that Yahoo!Auctions is a rudderless operation, but if you fortunate enough to get a live-person response, maybe you'll learn what is going on with those cancelled auctions.

I received no email notification as to a Website Link from Yahoo.

Yahoo has a habit of just tossing people people and they are left trying to figure out why. I feel for you. But either violation could have been the culprit. You have to have the nude in a special catagory and no links! Try BidVille!

Yahoo kicked my yahoo account off on Sept. 29, 2000 for supposedly violating TOS. They never asked my side of the story. What exactly I did, I rated a seller bad who stole my money. I paid for an item back in august and she claimed to have sent it, but I live in a small town and I would've received the item. I've had people just write my name and just the town and state with no zip and I received mail. Well she was an ebay seller too, and low and behold she listed the item on there. It was a used little girl's outfit, so it's highly unlikely she had 2 exactly same with same size. Yahoo not only kicked me off but they then removed the negative feedback I left on her. They left my auctions going with people bidding on them and I would have no way of rating the buyer. I had the name since Feb. 97. If rating someone bad is against TOS, they shouldn't have the option in the first place.
If you'd like to know the name of this crook, I cannot post it here, but e-mail me at [email protected]

Well mystery is solved. I received an email from Yahzoo saying that since my account balance was over 100.00, I was blocked from starting new auctions. I told them to go ahead and charge my credit card which they already had on file. They emailed back saying credit card charged and that I could list again. I thought charging your credit card was automatic. You would think that yazoo would have the sense to charge the credit card ratrher than block someone from listing.

Re Web Site Urls:

If you go to the Yahoo web page where you can customize your Yahoo booth, you will see a line on the form which reads "web site url" with space for the url to be keyed in. In the next line, the following sentence appears:

People who click on your booth logo will be taken to this page, e.g. http://www.mywebsite.com

This certainly implies that Yahoo has no objection to a seller posting their web site address.

zymo,

Both linking to items for sale on your website AND posting nude photos outside the Adult category are TOS violations for which your account could be terminated on Yahoo.

In fact, "censor strips" are NOT enough justification for posting nude photos outside the Adult section---they should be placed in the Adult category with or without the "censor strips".

You were lucky no one at Yahoo looked at your listings when your bill reached $100.00, or you might have had your entire account terminated.
