I recently won an auction on yahoo and this seller rates me bad a week after the auction ends even though I e-mailed him right after auction saying I would be sending out the money after I get paid Friday, which is tomorrow. I ALWAYS pay for my auctions. He sent me a threatening e-mail two days later. I had over 30 positive excellent buyer ratings. I thought the sellers were supposed to wait a minimum of 10 days before posting feedback?? The guy didn't say in his auction I had to pay with paypal so you'd think someone should allow for time shipping payment at least?? I've never seen anyone so impatient in these auctions before.

I used to think that the ratio of poor business people doing business on the internet was about the same as that in the real world. I was wrong of course. The internet really brings them out.

You can't beat greed and money as motives for ignorant conduct. Some people start drooling uncontrollably as soon as the smell a dollar bill, which they can do from miles away.

Take your neg, leave a counter-attack if you can, then just stay away from the bastard. His customer base will shrink eventually in all probability and put him out of business, although some real morons have survived and gotten quite rich. However, they are in the minority of their ilk ~ speaking of Yahoo management...

I can't understand this kind of thing. I'm just happy to get the money. I like getting paid quickly but am not going to complain if it takes a couple of weeks.

On the other hand I don't understand the buyers that scream if they don't get their item within a week after paying either....

People have lives that are full of challenges. A little understanding goes a long way...

auctionqueenie-Not to sound like I'm siding with the seller in this case, but I have found that if a buyer tells me they will be sending the money after payday and payday is a week off, it usually ISN't going to come! That has just been MY personal experience and perhaps this seller has had the same.

When you emailed him after the auction and let him know payment wouldn't be made until after payday, what kind of response did he give you?

I know it isn't fair to lump all buyers into groups or do the political incorrect thing of "profiling", but it's hard not to do, especially after it has happened time and time again.

You can respond to your rating with an explanation. With 30+ it probably won't hurt you much anyway.

sulvn,
his response was to send me a threatening e-mail 2 days later. The auction was only for 50 cents, but I work everyday up until the time the post office closes except for Fridays, so I couldn't have bought the money order until then anyway. Even if i'd been able to do that, it would've taken a few days to get to him and he obviously wasn't going to wait that long. He lied in the feedback on me saying that I never responded to e-mails, but I had saved copy in my sent folder. I always pay my auctions and as a seller, I know better than to lump all into one category just because of a few bad apples. I've only had a few bad buyers and the rest have paid either immediately or within a few weeks. I rated him a bad seller and I'm not having any more to do with him.

Not much you can do about extreme sellers (or buyers) other than learn how to look out for them from your experience and avoid those persons at all cost. After a couple of experiences you will notice patterns developing.

Now, just respond to the neg you got in a professional tone and no one will hold this against you.

Auctionqueenie:

I do agree that the way the seller handled this situation was unprofessional.

However, I gather from your posts that you e-mailed the seller to say that you couldn't mail out payment for a 50 cent auction until you received your paycheck 8 days later? Could you seller have interpreted your message to mean that you could not afford to pay 50 cents until you got your paycheck?

If you didn't want to send a small amount of cash, you also had the option of mailing a check or buying a money order from a convenience store (instead of the post office).

I guess I could've got a convenience store money order, but I honestly didn't even think of it. I see money order I automatically think post office. I just stated that I would be mailing out my auction payments after payday. It was a general copy/paste statement that I sent to all of my sellers. I buy many auctions at a time and it's easier to do them all at once. I will say though that when I have good dealings with a seller then I'll go back to them first before looking to a different one so this guy blew it with me.

The guy wouldn't take a check.

I just figured someone wouldn't be in that big of a hurry for 50 cents plus the s/h of course. I guess I assumed too much. Shame I can't copy/paste the threatening e-mail he sent me into the feedback and let people know what kind of person he is, but yahell wouldn't allow it. Good thing I didn't give him my address. lol

I moved from my old place because some crazies had my name and address and posted in yahoo message boards and said someone needed to blow my brains out. I e-mailed yahoo numerous times and they left it all there since November. It's still there. I don't need to have that kinda stuff going on again. I'm much more cautious about giving that out now. I guess it could be a lot worse than it turned out.

It's always hard to comment on any transaction, only hearing one persons side of the issue. But for a .50 item? I would have just sent a dollar bill, or whatever the total was, (I am assuming it may have been a sportscard). If not, and it required mailing in a box form, was this item worth that fee, and a money order? Not only is it easy to send paper money. If the seller has a good FB file, there is little risk involved. After all, this was only a .50 item.

It was $3.00 total. ($2.50 s/h.) It was a Paula Abdul cassette tape and I had specifically searched the auctions for this item. All my auctions I needed to send off totalled over $500.00, so I wanted to wait and send all the payments at once since I had to get so many money orders. So many have had problems with paypal that I've had problems getting sellers to take it, so I stopped using it now too. I don't feel like signing up all over again.

Why this guy would pay .20 to list this item I cannot say, but maybe he added that to the s/h cost because it didn't take me that much to mail a tape.

If his rating had been higher, i'd sent cash, but I didn't feel comfortable for some reason with this guy. Now I know why. The guy gave me the creeps from the tone in his first e-mail. His first e-mail was somewhat threatening and then the second was even worse. What a way to talk to a customer! If he'd talked that way in the auction itself I'd never had bid. I was so turned off by the way he talked to me I didn't want to buy it from him, but I really wanted the tape because I like Paula Abdul and you can't find her stuff in the stores around here. I guess I'll keep on searching lol.

Yahoo has in its guidelines to wait at least ten days for payment/transaction right?? That's what I always thought.

well...off to search for paula lol

Wonder how much it cost this auction genius to post a 50 cent item. Hopefully he didn't have to repost it!

This seller won't leave me alone now. He's constantly writing me e-mails harassing me for not paying him $3.00, even though he already rated me bad. Yahell can keep him lol.

The seller has a major chip on his shoulder about people taking too long to send payment and is fully prepared to defend his view. So defend your view and neg him. One week is reasonable, it's not like you wanted to wait a month to pay.

I've had to put him on blocked sender because of all the harassing e-mails he's been sending me. Only solution I could think of.
