Already the dominant player
in the online auction market,
eBay has been gaining
strength against its rivals in
recent months. Yahoo,
eBay's leading competitor,
saw its listings plummet
after introducing fees on its auction site last month.

Does this mean that the Fair Market Auction (Lycos Auction, Excite Auction, MSN Auction, etc.) is being eliminated?????????????

It didn't sound like the fair market auctions would be eliminated but....when Ebay bought out Up4Sale a couple of years ago, they closed it down.

No, I don't think this is a buy out, but a partnership situation - there is a lot of relatively unhappy talk concerning this on the eBay board - this partnership will bring in such as J.C. Penny, and other large companies!!! Doesn't look good for the small & medium seller of anything but rare and antique type items....a number of these large corporate accounts sell on the FairMarket venue now.

sellers of rare and antique type items have already left online auctions in large part. All that is going to be left is Walmart and McFrugal's offerings.
Borrrrrrrring, + shipping, so wave good bye to the shoppers we have left.

the part that I didn't quite get was, why are these people going to pay fairmarket fees on top of ebay fees?
