I'm sure Yahoo would simply call it a "glitch" if they ever actually answered for anything. If anyone is paying to feature check the categories to see if you're getting what you pay for.
I was going to feature some ads tonight, I always check the category first to see how many ads are featured. I was surprised to see much lower #'s than usual so I thought I could get a better deal for a change only having to pay 10 cents.
The first cat I clicked only showed 9 features but when I clicked feature on my ad it showed 53 ranging from 10 cents to $1.00 a day. 44 of those sellers ads are NOT showing on the featured list. From the featured list I clicked the first 5 ads, all of who were paying $1.00 a day. I returned to the category to see where they were (since the visited color changed by my clicking them.) None of them were in the 9 featured ads, the first one was found on page 3 in regular time-end order and did show the yellow featured tag next to the title. The other 4 I had clicked were on pages 4-8 of an 8 page category.
I have ads in 6 different categories so I checked the features in all of them and compared the actual # showing to the # of people paying
9 of 53
23 of 42
0 of 13
0 of 1
7 of 18
1 of 10
That's 137 sellers paying feature fees but only 40 of their ads actually showing up in the featured sections. And that's just 6 sub-categories, imagine the difference site wide. Needless to say I won't be doing any featuring after all.
You're exactly right. I noticed this major Featured glitch yesterday morning. Early on, only a small group of very new listings showed in a featured area I track, but if I started the procedure to pay for featuring on a listing of mine in that category, a long list of "prices paid" listings appeared. Through the day, the full list reappeared but then vanished in another area I watch.
I suppose it's some sort of server updating and archiving SNAFU. I have a few listings I'd gain from featuring for a few days now but I'm worried I'd just be wasting money now if I did so, again right now I can see only about half the listings that should be there are appearing in one big category. GRRRRRR.

Edited to add:
Whoa. This is more bizarre than I thought. I have two PC's networked together onto a DSL connection. The one I use right here is older, a P-166 with an older 16-bit Netscape being used as the browser. The other one is a P-600+ with a 32-bit 4.Something Netscape. THIS system shows the shortened featured listings. Right now, at the same time, I get the complete, correct list in that category over on my high-octane system. Yahoo has done something that messes up OLD browsers but not newer ones, I think.

I have noticed that some sellers are getting featured for under 10 cents !! I came accross this two weeks ago while I was featuring, checking the catagories to see how much I would have to spend to get on the first page. I found many items being featured in many catagories for 1 cent to 5 cents. Yahoo responded to my inquiriery that they were aware of the problem and are working to fix it.

I have had this happen to me. I featured an auction that I had chosen 2 auto-relists. When the auction was relisted it was automatically featured and I was charged 5 cents per day. I didn't want my auction automatically featured.
These sellers aren't getting a bargain. They are getting ripped off.....

That is horrible !! I haven't used the auto relist feature because I was afraid that would happen.
I featured a few things last night and found someone in second place with 0 the person before them was paying 35 cents, the person after them was paying 20 some odd cents. I suppose it may have to do with ending times also.
All and all this little glitch is costing us extra to feature items.
