Well I for one think this is abhorrent, and don't believe the general public is aware of this.

This info first appeared on the Yahoo Board. I appreciate the info.

I have already notified some of the more active Christian organizations regarding this so that they can notify their people, and they can mobilize their petitions and letter writing folks to tell Yahoo advertisers, that as long as Yahoo so proudly sells pornography that they will not support said advertiser and/or Yahoo. It is time the general public was made aware of this position of Yahoo’s!

Yahoo thinks they are losing advertisers now, how many more will they lose when the conservative public starts contacting their remaining advertisers!

I would encourage any of you with contacts to active groups to notify them of this position of Yahoo and their sale of pornography – they are being as arrogant and disgusting about this as Larry Flint ever was! Yahoo is acting like they are totally untouchable, and can flood American homes with pornography trash and no one will care. It is time we cared, and let Yahoo and their advertisers know it, LOUD AND CLEAR!

At the moment I can't find an e-mail link to mail Yahoo, if any of you have one, please post it.

Here is the phone, fax, and snail mail info:

I am not into porn and I have no interest in buying any of it. But I can't understand why you have such a problem with it. If you don't like it, simply don't look at it or buy it.

There's lots of money in this type of perverted material and Yahoo needs money to satisafy their shareholders.

Freedom is wonderful!

I'm boycotting all grocery stores that sell cucumbers. I have heard that have been used for other purposes (you know).......so I searched the internet and found pictures showing cucumbers and people doing things other than salad.

Therefore I have contacted all the organizations to help me in my fight---so no other person who enters 'Cucumber XXX' into a search will get anything other than recipes.

PS - I "hope" those gals who post the Troll pics here don't come up with one that is anatomically correct to illustrate a point!!

Yes I did, and I find it extremely disheartening when a major company makes such an announcement and the American public could care less that said company is adding to the destruction of what is left of the morality in this country Of course I shouldn’t be surprised, these are probably the same folks who didn’t care about the morals of their last president…….what examples we are producing for our children..

Clinton killed morality, along with the public, when they accepted such acts in the White House.

Yahoo killed porn, Clinton killed morality and Bush killed democracy and the environment. So?

econm - well glad to hear democracy has been killed since this country was formed as a REPUBLIC not a democracy.

CharlieOne

Apparently all of the public is not apathetic or complacent, as I just heard on CNN news, that after the announcement (link in first post) was made public Wednesday, such a uproar occurred that Yahoo has backed down and will remove porn from the auction, and will not accept adult banners on its sites! YEA!!!!!Thank the Lord the whole country isn't morally dead, and they have spoken!!!

LOLOLO!! The cuccumber stories are just too much.

what I would like to know is if they peel the cuccumber first, I have seen some pretty nasty looking cukes.

Porn is everywhere and yes the email generated by yahoo members is annoying. The email subject is usually decieving to get you to open it.

I have had success with after opening such a letter I immediately forward it to
[email protected]. It does help, it may take 3 reports before anything is done but yahoo is pretty good at responding and explaining how to help them stop this. It takes two to tango, Yahoo doesn't tell people to do this, these pedofile profilers use it to their advantage however they can becasue they know what they are doing and how far they can go before action is taken. They know that most of us are helpless on what to do, if they can get one person out of a thousand on their side they will continue to annoy us.

Watch for letters with attachments, if you accidently open one of these e-mails do not click on any of the links to avoid bad cookies from these sites

insightwatcher, how about the moral issue of you imposing on my free right to what ever I want in my home? You're saying I can't order through the internet. How about the moral issue of you telling what a company can sell even though it is legal items?

You Moralists really offend me. You have caused more harm and decay in this country by restricting freedom. You act like all adults are children who can't make decisions for themselves. Yes I am writing Yahoo in my own campaign, to ban all moralists from the site. Who needs these hyprocrits?

I hope Yahoo's stock will suffer greatly since they have decided to ban porn because I am shorting the stock.

Are you saying your morals are superior to mine? I am well established in my community, and have a family. Being part of the general public I can say bring on the porn. It's harmless. It's fun. Have yo thught about being responsible and teaching your kids to avoid porn, and what to do if they see porn? Or is that the governments responsibility? I taught my kid that nudity is not bad, but some porn is not appropriate for kids eyes. Is that too hard for you to do. Oh wait, you're too busy restricting other adults, you don't have time for your kids.

Hello Everyone,

Please keeps your comments to the subject and do not direct them to each other in a personal way. I know it's tricky and you all feel strongly one way or the other, but it's the rules.

Just as those who wish porn have a right to complain about Yahoo’s decision, they have the right to access such at many other sites on the WWW, if you so desire. We who object to such, also have the right to protest to such being sold openly and arrogantly by a company too well known to young people and families. Rights go both ways!

I'm German and I followed several AW threads with much interest. This thread made me create an account here. I am not into porn and I have no interest in buying it. I do admire the freedom, the innovative power and and the entrepreneur spirit the US showed always up with in the world. I know those who feel disturbed by porn are a minority, however a very active minotrity. Why do you let rule a minority? By the way "REPUBLIC not a democracy" what is meant by this? I thougt it comes from greek "res publica" and means the government of the public. Does it mean the minority should rule just because they are louder? I vote for freedom in the internet. Just don't request porn and and you don't have to feel disturbed by it. Yahoo is no longer suitable as a free medium if they ban 12 years of history and the human need of reproduction as a root of porn. I do not want to offend anybody with these words, I just felt a need to express my concern about the suicide of a big player in the net.

Porn is only harmless to those who have NO feelings for love of life. I Love banana splits but I know if I overdo it my rearend would be as wide as my car.

It's too bad these people who want more porn dont put that energy elsewhere, like saving the unwanted children they create for a minutes pleasure

Now we know where the spam comes from. Hint hint.

Openly being sold? I spend many hours on Yahoo and have never seen anything openly being advertised or sold that is pornographic.

What is the message you are trying to send to kids? Be ashamed of nudity? Don't learn responsibility, place the blame on someone else, and let someone else make rules for you kids? No wonder America is so messed up, the kids never learn responsibility from their moralist parents.

daxx, "Republic" means we have given up control of our lives and have let the government control because we have been brainwashed to believe we are mere children without responsibility. If you take a look at our elections, who gets the most votes- Republicans and Democrats. Meaning the majority wants the government control over their lives. I vote for the Libertarian party which is for less government.

History shows that the economic codition of the country has to be extremely poor before such revolution would occur. In 1996, Clinton tried to impose a tax penalty for leaving the country because so many millionaires were fleeing the U.S, that's how bad it is here. America is in a steep deline, but Americans won't notice until they are ruined. It's the normal cycle of dynasties.

The minority gets away with their protest because they are more organized and vocal. How many porn buyers want to speak up and admit they buy porno? They hide in the closet, so the minority moralists rule. Very unfortunate!

Quickdraw:

Thanks for your commentary couldn't have said it better myself. (And really I couldn't).

I can't stand religious moralist hypocrites either. They all seem to think their way is THE only way and if we don't agree with them we're all corrupt heathens. They seem to exist to impose their will on others, not stopping to think that gee- maybe others have free will also.

I always find it amusing when the High Priestess of the moral majority Dr. Laura complains that protests against her are part of the "liberal conspiracy" while her inciting protest is the RIGHT thing to do.

I personally have a problem with anyone or any group imposing their moralistic views through censorship. Should an adult society be restricted to a "G" rated internet because parents don't want to spend the time to supervise what their children do and watch when they are logged on?

I hope not, but that said it is usually a vocal minority that gets their way.

If you are opposed to a new puritannical and censored Yahoo, then express your own opinion to the company.
