I had some cigatette coupons up for auction, and a few hours after starting it, the auction was cancelled due to TOS violation.
I know better than to ask yahoo. Since I'm not the only one with a cigarette coupon auction on yahoo, but the only one who had their auction closed down by yahoo....
Does anybody here know why?
Of course the auction fee wasn't returned.
I had cigarette coupon auctions before, and this is the first time that it was closed down by yahoo. I moved it to BidVille. I'll see what will happen there.

This is just another way for yahoo to make money. They pick auctions at random, end them with no reasons given, and keep your dough
Heck of a scam eh!
PS - on bidville it will sit and rot. May become more value due to age after spending some time there.
Good luck

"LOL if you wanted to start selling on Bidville, why the fairy tale?
Oh well some people...."
I'm not sure if this "fairy tale" comment was directed at me but if it was, there was certainly no reason for making a crack like that. I was just making a comment on my experience at Bidville over the last month. I thought that is what this form was supposed to be for. Maybe your experience at Bidville has been different than mine but that's certainly no reason to suggest I'm not telling the truth.
There are a lot of sellers there with quite a bit of feedback and sells. I'm not the only one that is selling stuff there. I have been selling on line at auctions for over 2 years and have found all the sites to be slow this time of the year. I HAVE done better on Bidville than Yahoo in the last month.
Oh well..... some people are just butt-heads and you seem to be one.

I think youre at the wrong meeting (forum) for talking about bidville.

Jugghead- WHO exactly introduced BV into this discussion?
Heike, can't help you. Cancelling a coupon auction makes no sense at all. In fact cigarette coupon auctions used to get lots of bid activity on Yahoo. (I haven't checked lately.)

kasmoon, I never had a problem with the coupons before, either. And there are plenty of others still left. So I have no idea why only my auction was cancelled. Well, they did sell on Bidville, but not for as much as they would have on yahoo.
At least it was only "funny-money" I used to list with.

YAHELL doesn't need a reason to cancel your auction - they just do it - and keep the money - unlike eBay who may cancel an auction for a legitimate reason, but they tell you why and refund your listing money.
YAHELL is just that hell.
Regarding BidVille - I tried it in January when everyone was lauding it - and quickly found it dead, dead, dead, and over a month or so it didn't improve. Actually, I've sold more via AuctionAddict and one specialty niche auction than on any of the sites outside of eBay - naturally we are doing our major posting on eBay again, and doing well.
It is really sad what happened to Yahoo - it went from wonderful to hell so fast.

"JWPC is right on! "
Not quite eBay doesn't provide a "legitimate" reason at all ... other than "We're the King, and it's Good to the the King".
They do whatever they want and very rarely are they able to justify a decision. When push-comes-to-shove, and you start asking them hard questions about their idiot rulings, they ask you to stop emailing them - even if you quote their own policies verbatim back to them!
If you haven't been burned by eBay yet, you'll have no idea of what I am talking about. Hang around ---- soon come Man

don't you pay attention to the television?? cigarette ads are a no-no...that includes in the yahoo auction circuit...below is all they needed to cancel your auction and to keep your money!!!
"from Yahoo's Prohibited List:
3. Cigarettes, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia (including items to grow, manufacture or distribute the same), prescription drugs and medical devices, including any medical device that requires fitting by a certified practitioner or licensed seller."
"from Yahoo's TOS:
k. intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national or international law, including, but not limited to, regulations promulgated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, any rules of any national or other securities exchange, including, without limitation, the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ, and any regulations having the force of law;"
"YAHOO'S RESERVATION OF RIGHTS
Yahoo expressly reserves the right to, but has no duty to, refuse, reject or remove any listing in Yahoo's sole discretion.
You acknowledge and agree that Yahoo has the right to immediately modify, suspend or terminate any listings or your account and refuse current or future use of any Yahoo service if Yahoo, in its sole discretion, believes you have: (i) violated or tried to violate the rights of others; or (ii) have acted inconsistently with the spirit or letter of these additional terms or any document incorporated by reference, including, without limitation, the Yahoo! Auctions Guidelines. Your Yahoo! Auctions account may be terminated if you do not use this service at least one time during a reasonable period of time (as determined by Yahoo) which will not be less than three months."

Seems sometimes you either have to be psychic or make a quantum leap to decide what exactly will fall under prohibited this very minute as determined by whichever person is viewing it at that exact moment. Know what I mean?????
