Yahoo's in the news, article in Business Week that addresses the shakeup going on at Yahoo. It mention changes that Yahoo is looking into, and one mentioned that Yahoo will like to charge for ads based on results. Nothing specifically mentioned about auctions, but it seems logical for them to address auctions in the same manner. If you have an opinion on this and would like to have Yahoo consider changes to the auction fee structure, now is the time to contact them. Yahoo is becoming more open to criticism and ideas.

My heart isn't in it anymore. I don't believe they will listen. They know it all.
That's why they went from #2 to a Amazon wasteland wannabe.
If they ever get their heads out of their butts, they have my number.

I think just the opposite is true. From the reports I've heard, not a single shareholder at the recent annual shareholders meeting raised the issue of the poor performance of the Yahoo!Auctions business segment.
So it looks like the company isn't feeling much pressure these days to improve Yahoo!Auctions's performance.

Final Value Fees are not a new idea.
Offering advertising for their own site as if it were a sweepstakes "prize" is novel, but ridiculous.
open to criticism and ideas?
ebaY seeks to grow by attracting more mainstream commerce to their site at the expense of the micro-business which brought them success... yahoo says "me too" but without a thing to offer.

I wrote Yahoo many, many times offering to pay a fvf in lieu of a listing fee and never got a reply. I currently have 3 auctions listed there for very expensive items that are advertised as groups, more like a classifieds ads than auctions. Previous to the listing fees, I had over 300 items there. The whole online auction arena is almost useless for the type of items I'm selling. It is just too costly for slow selling items. Yahoo used to be good for my items, but is basically useless as it stands now.
My items are very odd and slow sellers and I can't afford to gamble $1450 per month just to list them, but I wouldn't mind paying that if it was through a fvf for successful sales and the fvf averaged 2% to 4%. Back in Yahoo's hayday, I averaged 18 to 30 sales per month out of 355 live auctions on average. Some months would not have even brought in the $1450 to list them.
I have 50 test auctions at Bidville and sold 1 lot in 3 1/2 months. It was an expensive $1450 lot of 26 Royal Doulton Toby's, so I will give BV credit for that. The guy drove from Maine to pick them up. that is the type of stuff i'm liquidating. I'm liquidating an estate. But, the rest of the BV auctions only get a couple of page views per month and have never sold 1 thing since early Feb. I wont even bother to list BV even if it is free, until the page views go up and people start buying something. Basically, I've sold nothing through net auctions since Feb., so I have been selling items through local ads and have sold over 55 items in 3 1/3 months.
I'm sick of writing to Yahoo. My suggestion to them was to offer dual payment options so they could stand out in the online auction circle. They could offer listing fee auctions with no fvf and no listing fee auction with a fvf. They killed my old account anyway. I advertised a $28K gold inlaid cased rifle for over $12.75K and they hit me with a TOS without even warning me.My old account had a rating of 122 and I had references for individual mail order sales up to $7K. The gun had been in there for over a year and no one said a thing. The hell with Yahoo after they treat me like that, it is there turn to suck up to me if you want me back.....and fix my old account too!
