We cannot determine the true value of yahoo auctions until the funny money is paid out and all listing is paid with real money. Yahoo appears to be doing some good but are they really.

Exactly, once my credits are gone so am I. I use Yahoo for clearance of items that's not worthy of fees, even if the item sells the first time around, because ebay serves that same purpose.

The funny thing is Yahoo is reporting really good numbers, besides total listing count. I think there's a lot of shades and mirrors that the numbers reflect but Yahoo is a worldclass heavyweight that is nearly impossible to knock out. They could pull all the sellers from ebay who sell the top knotch items that do good on Yahoo and essentially serve a serious blow to ebay. I know if I had all that good product to sell I would do so on Yahoo.

I personaly believe that when the credits do run out that yahoo will sufer very bad. The strength in the number of their auctions is weaker than most think.

There has been a lot of statements made by YaWho brass that us sellers know to be false this year. Other statements made are the bending of the truth. Earlier this week, in the financial press there was a story about dot-coms who have overstated earnings, mostly through the way they account for stock options. Yahoo let the way. The report accused Yahoo of overstation earnings by over 1000%

Well I still have a fair amount of funny money left. Based on my experience on eBay, I don't expect my type of item to do well in summer on Yahoo. So, I'm taking a break and won't be back to listing much until September-October. The funny money should last me until the end of the year.

I still have about $150.00 worth and at this time do not plan to use it. I tried for the first 4 months, but nothing was selling.

I still have a lot, and I'm listing now, but slowly because I don't have a lot of time! I had two items sell yesterday, one was the item on someone's watch list I commented on in another thread. Another was a book that has been hanging around the place for months, glad it finally went to someone!

My plan at this time is to list two categories of stuff on Yahoo:

1st: ebay-likely items which I will list at a high opening bid and no BIN price

2nd: stuff I already have listed on Amazon and or half.com, which I will list with a First Bid Wins price that is clearance-priced. I figure I save at least $1 by selling on Yahoo...often much more...so my selling price can be lower.

I still have nearly 450 in funny money. I also have a lot of items I will list in the fall. Right now, I list once-if it doesn't sell, leave it until fall. Why waste the freebies when no one is buying? There may be a lot of people doing this, and a true picture may not be available for months, until they have used that funny money up.

bearmom is right---that a LOT of sellers still have credits they aren't bothering to use because nothing is selling.....but that might be used in the fall (IF, of course, YaWho Auction is still around then).

I still have over $500 worth, since I quit listing in March because of poor sales.

Granee - I don't think nothing is selling at this time. [sorry about the double negative!]

Being selective is important...but I also think putting out attractive items at this point is a good investment for anyone who is anxious to cultivate an alternative to ebay. I admire the Bidville sellers very much for all their work to build up that site...but I am still turned off by the lack of overall visibility of Bidville. Yahoo has the visibility and the track record to be a solid Number Two. We just need to figure out how to make it work.
