Does anyone have experience with Yahoo's PayDirect money transfer service?

Their TOS (and an answer from a service rep.) both say that no chargebacks are ever allowed, but their merchant bank told me that if a chargeback occurs, the "Recipient" would get his account debited (ie the chargeback WOULD go through to the seller??). So there seems to be a total contradiction of terms/actions here.

Anyone have the misfortune to deal with PayDirect and the whole chargeback issue?

I was lucky enough to be given the contradictions you now have before they had a chance for a chargeback. I was told that they would take the money out of your account, THEN tell you they did it. I was also told it was the sellers responsibility to verify that the credit card being used was good and belonged to the person making the purchase (even if it required me calling the card holders bank to verify this). I asked how I was suppose to do this as I was never provided with the basic information required to do this. I never heard back from them so I didn't accept the payment and didn't ship the merchandise....and never accepted another PayDirect payment. If you're looking for protection, you're definately looking in the wrong place.

I ditto the same experience Auctionee had and have discontinued using Paydirect.

I am currently having a problem with a dropped communication charge to my account with Paypal and haven't received the funds back yet even though the Post office signed a statement they did not receive the money.
Caution to those using Paypal's debit card toward their account. Paypal is very slow in reponding to any errors even when it's isn't the card holders fault and one may have to wait a long time to get their refund.... I am! At this point I am seriously considering not using paypal. Have been a premier business account for some time processing ine xcess of 1-2 thousand dollars monthly for over a year and this is the first time a problem and they're dragging their feet!!

Thanks to you both. I'm not facing this problem, just trying to find an alternative to Paypal.

PayDirect looked very promising when I read their TOS, but their merchant bank makes it very clear that sellers have no protection against chargebacks. Here's the bank's answer:

"The Recipient of a Payment is responsible if the Payment was funded fraudulently, or the funding transaction is charged back by Sender's credit card company.

Any disputes with the Sender of a Payment must be resolved directly with them. If you suspect fraud or a fraudulent reversal of Payment, you should contact the appropriate authorities.

Thank you,
CIBC National Bank
Paydirect Support"

If anyone recommends C2It or other credit card acceptance services, please include in this discussion thread your reasoning or other documentation for believing they're better at protecting sellers than Paypal. I'd love to drop PP, but I haven't found anyone with even their shaky level of seller support.
