I never paid much attention to the "Neighborhood Watch," as I didn't see it would have an effect on me till NOW!

Although I have a +202 positive rating on Yahoo, I have had 3 auctions closed this morning based on violation of terms of service, although I received NO NOTICE from Yahoo and and all closures were based on 1 opinion!

I have had my first really mad buyer and I believe he is the one running around doing this...if this type of thing is allowed, then anyone body can complain and shut down someone elses auction....we will soon have sellers complaining about another seller who is selling the same product just to have their auction closed down...

Yahoo needs to immediately address this SERIOUS PROBLEM!

Yes I have written Yahoo for all the good that will do.

Hi jw!

Sorry to hear about your neighborhood watch fiasco, but it is not new to me. Ever since this went into effect, I have had one or two auctions closed down per week.

One bidder sent me an email -" Hey, your spotting lens converter isn't a lens, so I CLOSED YOU DOWN!
Why can't you losers get your (deleted) together without my help?"

Neighborhood watch is loads of fun. Once it happens often enough, you begin to appreciate the entertainment value in having auctions you worked hard to list closed down by total strangers.

Especially strangers who really have no vested interest in your auction(s). I think alot of these folks simply "browse" the auction listings for free entertainment; I know several of my friends tell me they do.

We need to get rid of all the fake auctions. You can tell its a fake when all the auction is doing is a link to his web site & a starting price of $1,000,000.

What was the reason it closed? I have reported some that were obviously in the wrong catagory. But then I thought that they couldn't be relisted in the same catagory. They must have said it belonged in the adult catagory to close it. Doesn't Yahoo look at the auction themselves to find out?

People missunder stand neighborhood watch

Yahoo dont have to police the neighborhood if we are if you get X amount of complaints your auction is shut down.

as soon a yahoo gets enough pissed sellers from jerks playing around they will change the way it works or do away with it.

you cant give people free rein over nothing they will always make a mess of it and force more regulations and rules on all.

after all the absents of regulation and government is takeing responcablity for your self and your actions with out question.

start a neighborhood watch and instead of neighbors protecting one another the vigilantys come out and start picking off the competition.

I have found a great way to get yahoo attention you call them not during the busy week but on the weekend your wait for a rep is short and you get heard

I don't disagree that people who are running these "web-site" link auctions with $1,000,000.00 price tags need to be removed.

I just don't think neighborhood watch is the right way to do it.

My two auctions that were closed were on 1 complaint each, and the auctions were for Old Western Movie collectibles, definitely NOT anything adult! They said it was because of "terms violations," but when I questioned them regarding what I had violated, I got a form letter that didn't specify anything.

I have a multitude of other auctions running with the same "terms" that have not been bothered.

This is ridiculous....like eBay's Gestapo

FIRST NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH THEN ONLY 2 RELISTS - getting more and more like eBay...very sad

I use Neighborhood Watch for one reason only--to shut down SPAM ads. The ads that have no item for sale, just say click here to join Alladvantage, click here to join Paypal, click here to visit my website etc. My main problem with those ads is that the sellers are running 50-350 of them at a time, each in a different category. Those ads are violating TOS and Yahoo should be deleting them on their own without waiting for 4 NW reports.

The way NW is set up is after 3 diff people click it the seller is supposed to be notified and given an option to close the ad himself. Yahoo only looks at it/closes it IF a 4th report is clicked. Of course there is always the old-fashioned approach of writing a complaint to Cust Service yourself without using NW and asking an ad to be closed, that's what I do with someone listing 300 SPAM ads. I'm certainly not wasting my time to go click NW on that many when one letter can get them all killed.

Still, it doesn't make sense JWPC's ads were closed with 1 report. From what he says I don't even see why anyone would object to them.

I'll take the other side of this argument.I sell loose gemstones. The finished goods people are alway's listing in the loose section so they can stand out and catch more viewers. It is not hard to figure out what category one belongs in.Our success depends on professional presentation and keeping our house in order.
Luck all

Yahoo looks into the complaint and if there is any base to the complaint like a violation of terms, yes yahoo can close you out. I know I sometimes place a non related item somewhere where there is a lot of activity. I have never been closed but i have had a complaint. like stick depression glass in with carnival glass or something like that.
But i do agree with you that this can be used against us by angry and upset people. But yahoo should make sure a complaint is valid before closing an auction out.

Guys I don't think Yahoo ever listens to their loyal sellers. Seems to me that while Neighbourhood Watch maybe needed, it has been abused by some users who obviously are pranksters.

My point to Yahoo is that they have bigger issues to deal with other than this Neighbourhood crap. What about all those fake bidders that is causing havoc in Yahoo. There are ids in Yahoo with -70 & these jokers keep on making ids so easily.

Yahoo Auctions is great, too many damn great features to list here but to many serious sellers its a joke because of the lack of control over the undesirable elements. Its just too damn easy to open a Yahoo id.

Instead of tightening up on fake bidders & improving on customer support which do not exists, they start this Watch which will add to the mess.

I think once Bidbay is fully operational & once thy get the bidders, I might be heading out there. I can't list of eBay all the time because they are just too expensive & Yahoo Auctions just doesn't seem bend on at least listening to their sellers once in awhile.

OK Kasmoon - at leats YOU know what spam auction listings are!

I had an auction close because the word "Adult" was in the title, no complaints, wrong category and it closed. I simply re-listed it - deleting the word "Adult" from the title, of course!

On another thread I said, Yahoo doesn't have the seller base to P!$$ us off like this. Forget the bidder base......
