Hi,
I was wondering if you had to cancel an auction (which I did) is there a way to get a refund for the listing fee? It was only up for 24hrs. Thanks! Just wanted to know if theres a way or if I'm out of luck...

I believe you are out of luck. As far as I know, the only way to get a refund is for a non-paying bidder using the complaint process.

According to Yahoo the listing and feature fees are non-refundable. However, I have gotton a refund for auctions I cancelled due to a technical "issue" yahoo was having with their picture servers. I cancelled before I read the "no refund" policy. I sent an email to [email protected] and explained exactly why I had cancelled and I was given a refund after about the 10th email!!!

I have never had to cancel an auction yet at Yahoo - I usually catch the important stuff by previewing it before I submit it.
BUT I do encourage sellers to email Yahoo support and ask for a refund if anything goes wrong. I edited an auction listing after someone had bid on it a while back, and somehow the option to take personal checks got turned on, and the option labeled "Seller Ships On Payment" got switched to "Seller Ships At Auction Close". I emailed Yahoo support and after about 2 or 3 emails back and forth, I was given a $5 credit, which was great considering this was an auction that only cost less than $1 in fees total.
Also, I have had success in getting them to change prefabricated search links. They have a "Buy Now Special" page which features links to searches that show various types of items that have a Buy price on them all across various Yahoo categories. I noticed the link on this page for videotapes was rather ineffective for both video tape sellers and buyers. It was doing a search for something that had the words "video tapes" literally IN the auction title. I indicated in my email to support that it would look rather silly to put that in one's title, if the auction is already in a category labeled (in part) "Video Tapes > VHS". So now the search has been changed - before it was showing maybe 20 or 30 items that actually had "video tapes" in the title, now it shows (AFAIK) nearly all the videotapes available with a Buy price on their site (last look was over 1,400 tapes).
I tried to take a very step by step explanatory attitude in the email - I didn't just offer up a change with no justification. I also indicated that really it does both buyers and sellers a service, to show the maximum number of correct search results.
IMO, the support may take a little while to respond, perhaps longer than the time period indicated, but I do get the impression someone does read each email eventually.

Why did you cancel it? Could be you could ask for refund depending on the reason. Of course if your only out a few cents probably not worth the bother!

Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully something can be done. I listed them then had to cancel them about 2 hrs later after that. I had to cancel them because I incorrectly described them, I discovered some flaws in the item and decided to just sell them at a yard sale I'm having sunday. But thanks again for the suggestions
