The results are in from the survey. Look for more information released Tuesday (10-16).
It would seem there will be a fvf tier and an enhanced auction tier (just my interpretation).
Should be interesting.

Thanks for the update - I've been anxiously awaiting some news. Can you give us an idea of where to find this info? I just started selling at Yahoo so any e-mails to survey takers will not come to me.
Thanks!

If they are making a big change there will probably be a link on the front page.
Their standard Announcement board is herehttp://auctions.yahoo.com/phtml/auc/us/promo/announcements.html

Dear Sellers,
In my email dated September 21, I thanked you for your frank, honest
survey feedback and promised to keep you apprised of the changes and
improvements we would be making to Yahoo! Auctions in the near future. I
shared with you our priorities for the coming months and promised to
move quickly to meet these objectives.
Today I'd like to outline two major initiatives that we will announce to
the public on Tuesday. These initiatives will address two of the three
key priorities I outlined in my last email. The first will respond to
your request to drive a great deal of additional traffic to Yahoo!
Auctions. We will do so by dramatically improving our integration with
other properties on the Yahoo! network. It will be easier than ever for
Yahoo! users to find, view, and bid on your auction items. The second
will create a unique new way to buy and sell used, overstock, and
clearance items on Yahoo! This new outlet for sellers will enable you to
move commodity goods quickly and easily while paying a final value fee
that is significantly lower than that of our competition.
We are tremendously excited by the potential of these initiatives and
thank you again for your input. Your ideas and advice helped us to
prioritize these efforts. Be on the lookout for the announcement on
Tuesday and please join us at 1pm Pacific for an online chat. A few
members of our team will be available online to explain the initiatives
in further detail and to answer any questions you might have about these
announcements.
We will continue to work on these and other key priorities and will
deliver additional results and information to you in the near future.
Thank you for using Yahoo! Auctions!
Sincerely,
Norm Hullinger

Will these be in addition to the existing links on the Yahoo Entertainment pages that point to the bootleg video and DVD listings on their auction site?
It's one thing to allow these copyright violators free reign on their auction venue, but if they intend to advertise these bootlegs on all of of their pages, it's scary to think what they'll do for a buck.
Looks like I will have to find another home page for my browser

Yes let's hope they change to a FVF.

Doesn't sound like FVFs for their auctions to me. Sounds more like they are going to establish a fixed price area of the auction web site in the Half.com fashion. Might be too little, too late as eBay is already one step ahead of them with the announcement the the Half.com and eBay sites will be merged together into a single site.

Unfortunately it sounds like they are not talking about changing the auctions, but more likely they will be pushing us towards their new Half.com clone, Yahoo Warehouse.
Sounds a lot like Half- list for free & they take a FVF. They said it would be for books, music, movies, & games, while auctions will remain "for collectibles & one of a kind items.".
http://warehouse.yahoo.com coming soon.

a quick search on AW shows the email that was sent before this one, and lays out the goals. Here they are - I did not cut and paste the entire letter -
1. Drive even greater traffic from the Yahoo! network of over 200
million users to Yahoo! Auctions.
2. Re-evaluate the fees we charge sellers.
3. Build new and different ways to buy and sell products on Yahoo!
In the past weeks, we have begun tackling each of these three issues.
They are our top priorities. We will keep you apprised of our progress.
fee changes look like they are still on the way.

In books, sounds like another opportunity for sellers to frantically lowball each other. If they do copy half.com I hope they will find a way to improve the database, get rid of all the wrong titles, bad ISBNs, etc.
I have my most success on Amazon Marketplace, which I attribute to the content-rich nature of the site. There is so much info there to sell the book for you, including an excellent search feature. Half.com is so second-rate. I cross-list many of my books and they almost always sell on Amazon first.
If this new initiative brings more buyers to Yahoo, that seems fine. I'd like to see more listings in many book categories to give an impression of a vibrant site. Flooding the place with 25 cent listings doesn't strike me as the answer.

Yahoo announcement had nothing to do with auctions!!!
Why did they keep doing this to us and why do we continue to support them??

olhickory,
You can post links to yahoo boards in the Yahoo forum, but you can't copy and paste chat from any other boards, especially when they contain User I.D.'s.
Sorry, I had to delete your post.

I have a complaint about yahoo auctions..I might be jumping the gun but anyway I have been wasting valuable effort on getting my issue resolved..I became a member of yahoo auctions(US based) about 9 months ago even though I reside in Canada.I had no problem in registering or becoming a new member. Recently the credit card I have on file expired. So when I got my new card I tried to enter the updated information..guess what happened..I got an error message saying that I must have a US billing address to use pay direct..I didn't even sign up for pay direct..so I wrote several emails to yahoo explaining my situation...this lead absolutely nowhere...They responded by telling me how to edit my yahoo wallet...Still no luck..So this morning I fired off another email to yahoo asking for an explanation....they came back and said paydirect is only avaliable to US citizens..They said I have to delete my paydirect account(they never told me how) and then I should be able to edit the wallet in which I get billed..then on the bottom of the email it said the following "Please note that Yahoo! Auctions is also a USA-based service, we
recommend that you look into Auctions designated for your region." Now this really ticked me off..because first off I was using yahoo auctions for the past 9 months getting billed through my canadian based credit card..I did a 120 + transactions...now there telling me to go to yahoo canada who we know gets probably 25% of the traffic that the US based yahoo gets...What is up? are you telling all canadian sellers to go elsewhere..

Well isn't that nice...
I'm so glad they care about their sellers. They are starting to sound like eBay now! I'm a Canadian seller too, and this response from Yahoo would have ticked me off as well. There has been no problem with Canadians selling on eBay.com and Yahoo.com (the USA versions) so why would they tell you to look elsewhere??
Sheesh... How rude...
