I recently flipped through Yahoo and saw alot of fake autographs. Even a Tiger Woods one that is currently running at $82.00 and has a buy price of $110.00. As a sports card dealer I know this is impossible to have a genuine Woods autograph on quote a master flag for $110.00. That is just to name a few. Yahoo you need to crack down, before FBI does on you. Oh by the way they all say with COA, well duhh anyone can type one up.

Yes...I noticed a tremendous increase in fakes about 3 years ago on Yahoo! and on eBay. I would guess 98% of the money autographs (the A list) are all fakes and it's the curiosity seekers that are buying them. No real collector would ever buy a Madonna, Harison Ford, Brando, Liz Taylor, etc. on an auction site. Just common sense should tell one that an autograph worth $100 or more selling on an auction site for $30 or $40 is a fake. No real dealer could take that kind of loss and it seems those same sellers have an endless supply. The old rule is the best rule. If you didn't see it signed yourself then it's probably a fake.
As for the COA (Certificate Of Assurance), if the signature is fake so is the COA. Anyone can sign someone elses name and then print up a COA saying it's real. Pathetic.

I don't trust the established dealer either. I use to go to sportscard shows and they would have a famous sports star signing for a hefty fee and the line would wind forever. All of those people in that line had one goal .. to get the real McCoy. Not from some autograph seller that claims to had an item signed in person but the real deal. Autograph collecting and religion have a lot in common .... blind faith.
