I am having no luck with yahoo auctions. however, I just looked at the clasifieds and wonder three things: 1. is there really no cost to list and sell on the classifieds? 2. If there is no cost, why does anyone bother to use the auctions? 3. has anyone had much luck withthe classifieds?

It does not cost anything to use the classifieds.
I use the classfiieds on occasions, but have had very little activity from them. Several reasons for this in my opinion. First, the classifieds are like a message board. Transactions must be concluded by e-mail, and there is no feedback or rating system to check on sellers or buyers. Items are organized by local area, and you must go through additional steps to see all listings in a category. The category tree is very poor. I sell sportscards and there are only two categories for each sport, single cards and lots. There is no ability to search by seller and there is no seller link to guide potential buyers to your ads.
This area is set up like a newspaper's classified ad area and the difficulty of finding items does not make it attractive to many buyers in my opinion. I have seen a little more activity since the new shopping area was set up, but it is still very slow when compared to the auctions.
