there are over 16,000 yahoo shops on yahoo shopping, many of them honed their skills on yahoo auction, ebay auction.
some have spent sizable money to have professional design/redesign stores, spent money on overture to bid for higher search visibility.
existing yahoo shopowners are seeing their yahoo bills go up or down since the new pricing structure.
before you open a shop on yahoo shopping, check out the existing stores and their prices, competition is keener than before and stakes are higher, with a difficult retail environment,it may take longer to recoup your initial investment.

Ive not tried Yahoo stores but Ive thought about trying it several times. The fee is just too high for a non html sling'n amateur like me to fork over ( 50+ a month, a cut of your gross and revenue share fees) too bad theres not an entry level price till you can take off the training wheels...... If you could see it generate money for you - sure would be easier to pry open yer wallet lol

49.95 for hosting your site, then 10 cents per item.
say you have 200 items, then it is 69.95.
for every order, there is a 1/2% transaction fee,for orders which come thru yahoo shopping network,3 1/2 % revenue share.
with 16,000 shops, there is practically everything for sale there.
some shopowners not only pay yahoo, they also pay overture for search, commision junction for any website which refers them business, then merchant account and discount fee,and then with fraudulent orders, they not only lose the merchandise, shipping, but also have to pay a chargeback fee if they lose the dispute.
sounds like the new shops have low margin, after paying all these bills, there is practically nothing left on the table.'why are they doing it,you may ask, well, they are hoping volume will save them.
lots of luck,charlie.
