Doesn't make sense to me, this Watchlist. I have an auction with 3 people added to the Watchlist. Bidding starts at $5.00, a Buy Now at $5.50; current bid at $5.25. I've seen this with other auctions where Buy Now is only .20¢ away and people Waching it. What is there to watch?

I have stopped putting Buy prices on my auctions because I got tired of watching the bids getting to within $5 and stopping. I had that happen on 2 different auctions. They reach their final sales price on the 1st day of a 10 day auction and nobody would go up the $5 to the Buy price???? I wasn't overpriced either!!!
I also have an auction sitting on $1.00 with 63 views and 6 watchlist totals showing. I'm not holding my breath hoping that all 6 will get into a bidding war the final moments of the auction either. I have notice (for me anyway) there are no snipers.
In fact, I have observed that rarely does an auction even get looked at on the last day if it has any bids at all! I cannot figure that one out. The only thing I can come up with is that potential buyers see it has bids and just pass on to one that has no bids hoping to get it at opening bid.

My belief is that the Watchlist is used mostly by other sellers that are monitoring your item(s) to see if it did well/poorly.
To get the most bang-for-the-buck ( nickel actually ) most sellers use the 10 day auction duration free option. That's a long haul for impatient bidders so I always offer them the ability to buy the item at a 10% premium with the Take-It-Now option. Very few items ever get a second bid anyway so why not try to capture a few sales with the Buy Now free option?
