I would imagine that overseas auctions are not yet that profitable, as the cost of being on line over seas is VERY costly, combined with the fact that home computers are much less common overseas, so combining just those 2 factors, means less business for overseas auction sites.
Combine that with the fact many US sellers won’t ship overseas, and it narrows the market even more.
It might be a smart move for Yahoo, IF they would then put their emphasis and understanding of the auction business into the US site. We can only hope!! But I won’t hold my breath.

Definitely a smart move for Yaho. eBay made a similar smart move when it ceased it's eBay-Japan operations recently. Why waste money on overseas operations that drain money from corporate coffers? It sounded good in theory but the hassle of international shipping made most sellers willing to only ship to nearby Canada. It's about time the auctions realised that the international markets were not going to work out.

I think it also hurt when they stopped allowing anyone but USA residents to buy or sell on the USA SITE. but the romanian & other countries seem to still get registered to run their rolex, sony & computer scams so they just lost the honest people.

Now if Yahoo would just close its U.S. site! Buyers coud be directed to a site serious about auctions, and attracting buyers.
