FYI...I just wanted to let everyone that I just waited on hold at PayPal for at least 45 minutes..horrible customer service...also, I just found out about a new payment service called ecount.com which may be better than PayPal at least judging from their customer service where a rep answered on the first ring.

sdirico Awfully nice of you to register today to tell us of ecount. Funny that your post in the Paypal thread was completly different than your post here. You said you liked paypal there but a whole 8 minutes later you have problems?

you have to expect a free service that is loved by thousands of fairly new users to have a little bit of a problem answering the phone right away.
I've never had a need to call them, I find there site pretty dam easy to use and figure out on my own and I am completely 100% happy with both paypal and x.com/.

sdirico,

I'm sorry to hear you had to wait so long to speak with customer service. We realize we haven't been answering our users' inquiries quickly enough, and we are continually ramping up our customer service department to meet these needs. We've just opened a new customer service center in Omaha, Nebraska that will hold up to 500 representatives. We've already hired over 200, and we're really making some headway.

newguy and kimbo,

Thanks for the input. Glad to hear you're happy with PayPal/X.com kimbo!

Jennifer

I don't judge a company by how fast they answer their phones. That is a low priority of mine.

I adore Paypal, I have never had any problems with them, monies arrive when they should and customers galore loving to pay this way. It's a win win for me, and I'm sure it has made for more business, just because of the speed of the purchase for the customer. I can't imagine ever being without them.
Thanks Paypal...keep up the good work.

sdirico, well I guess I better switch to ecount.com too. Nah! I think I will stick around Paypal for awhile. Yes they have slow customer service but that's because many people use them. ecount probably has 10 members right now & 5 of them are ecount employees...CEO, Manager, Supervisor, Telephone Girl & Waste Management worker.

LEGG64 you must be smoking some of the good stuff way too much ehh. You probably mail the payment to some unknown joker in ecount.com that's why.

I LOVE PAYPAL, have had over 200 successful transactions with them!

But like someone else said if you don't like PayPal, try somewhere else - I am sure there are folks waiting in line to sign up for PayPal, so don't complain just move on to another service.....

I have had one customer have problems with PayPal, but I am not sure why, I have to assume they are novice computer users.

I had MANY problems at first with PayPal. When I set up my account I entered both my first and last name for my first name. The result: my name read as Kelly Smith Smith.

It took over 8 emails before it was fixed. Each time I would receive an answer not related to my question. Twice I was told that I had to submit my question from their site for security reasons, and ALL of the emails that I sent were from their site.

When I sent my first Direct Deposit to my bank it ended up "lost."

I then talked to someone on the phone (Yes I waited almost an hour on hold, but I was posting auctions so I didn't much care) about my deposit. He was very nice but not helpful. He said it was probably late in posting since PayPal was very behind.

When I finally did receive an email about my deposit PayPal said it was rejected because my account number was wrong. I had enterd the correct account number.

It turns out that I can't transfer money into my business account even though that account name is my name with "Collectibles" at the end.

Since then I have had no problems. I know that PayPal is suffering from growing pains, and I have decided to stick with them.

My customers love the service and I love receiving the money in a blink of an eye.
Right now it is working fine. Why would I pay for a service like billpoint when this one is working fine for free?

As for the customer service, I have found that when any company uses email for customer support the outcome is almost always the same: The responses 9 times out of 10 don't even match the questions asked. It's as if the person answering the email is in the third grade.

But then, how many times have I seen threads where the first comment on the opening line of a post reads, "I sent the seller a Money Order..." and the next 5 posts read, "Did you use your credit card, or "the sun is blue today." I just sit there and scratch my head wondering if the person posting the post can read. Or is older than 10.

At least I can get a person from paypal on the phone, even if I have to hold forever.

Try getting a live person on Yahoo or Ebay.

PayPal, I'm sticking with you during this growing period.

Kelly

For a free service PayPal is great. I recently sent an email and didn't get a response but the second time around I did. I asked if there is some way to make a note on the check for what the payment is for. I have a lot of items that sell at the same price. They are going to put it in the suggestion box. Who knows, perhaps it will happen. My customers have used PayPal about 15 times and things seem to be going great.

Free, fast, efficient. Paypal is the best improvement for person to person online auction selling to come along in a long time. From nothing to millions of customers so quickly will naturally give a few growing pains but the only problem I've had so far is not being able to use occasionally because the site was too busy.
