I received a PayDirect payment today for a Yahoo Auctions item and was greeted by a 'select a type of account that you wish to have' screen. There is a new professional account that accepts credit card payments and the old personal accounts, very similar to PayPal's structure. The personal accounts are free to accept regular payments. I selected the personal account and went to the 'accept/refuse' payment screen and there was no fee for the transaction. That was a nice feeling to see there was no hefty fee on a low value item.

It didn't last long. Today I received another PayDirect payment for a Yahoo Auctions item. This time it wouldn't let me accept it with upgrading to a business account because the payment was made from a credit card. I upgradgable and now it is exactly like Paypal's business accounts. I am hoping that if someone pays me from a PayDirect balance that the fees will be waived but I don't think so.
Now that Yahoo is copying Paypal's business accounts they should inherit many of the problems that PP brings such as sellers trying to add a fee for the PayDirect fee ( Yahoo is based in CA like ebay ) and sellers adding confusing payment terms like "PayDirect okay as long as the funds are from a PayDirect balance". With practically no humans in the customer service department this could get interesting.

Paydirect has always had the option buyer pays fees or seller pays fees. So much for the law forcing ebay/paypal to require that the seller pays fees.

vvalhalla, I remember reading something about that option when PayDirect first came out but I just scoured the PD site and could not find any mention of it anywhere.
Would you provide a link with that option? I think they may have changed that policy.

You're right, they must have changed the policy. Sorry it took so long to respond, I just hate being wrong!
