Strange , but true.
After beating my brains in about how to deal with new 2 times limit on auto -relists, I think I have figured out how to beat the system, and the result is more $$$$.
Under the old system, I would use the maximum 5 relists. If an item didn't sell, I figured it was simply overpriced for the market and I immediately lowered the price by
15 - 20%, even if this meant taking a loss. I just don't have space to warehouse things.
I figured the lost revenue was offset by the lower amount of paperwork in dealing with one site, one listing, etc.
But I discovered something very interesting. Other sites allow auto relisting, ( and some - no listing fees) too. I now take my non sellers from Yahoo, and move them elsewhere for the maximum days of exposure I can get, at the same price that did not sell on Yahoo.
Guess what? I'm only about a week into the system, and over 20% of the stuff is already gone. All at above my opening bid. The change of scenery worked wonders.
Could be, Yahoo did (at least some)sellers a big favor in eliminating the incentive to "just close the stuff out". In the short haul at least, the bidders are sending me more money.

So far I only took a dozen items to another free site. Only 1 sale in 3 weeks though and very few page views. It was discouraging, I can't decide whether to change items or try other sites. Don't see much traffic in my categories anywhere but eBay.
Regarding the price dropping, when my items didn't sell for several weeks on Yahoo I actually raised the openings and then got bids. I wondered if people thought it was cheap crap or a deal too good to be true. I don't know but I sold alot more after raising prices.

I find that just relisting works still, what comes around goes around.
I can put something up for 5 relists and nothing, then go for it again maybe a month down the line, and bingo it sells.
It's all who is looking at that moment really.
So I stay with yahoo and maybe adjust prices a bit.

I thought all it meant was more work for me. I use the relist function a lot especially for my 1 or 2 really slow selling items. Oh! well what can I do.

One of the major problems in using multiple auctions is many folks like myself use a template that works perfect for Yahoo and eBay, but some of these other auction sites are a hassle to adjust your "drop in auction description" in.....
Amazon has such a short description it is a pain to cut down to their size, even if they had bidders, which I don't see they have...
I tried Alta Vista (fair markets) and did fair, but found it a pain to use because of the adjustments I had to make in my templates...Gold's is perfect - except they have no buyers.
Oh well, I'll find another FREE back up somewhere, I hope.
