It better be worth a lot of money at almost 160 pounds and shipped abroad. Have you used the interational rate calculator at the USPS web site yet?

Yes I have and the intl calculator says that its unable to find a way to ship pkge and suggest that I try to break this down into smaller shipments (which I can't). I have tried DHL also (same problem). I should hit myself on the head for getting into this one...

I remember being in line at the post office recently and a person with a big package was being told his destination was a " 44 pound " country that he could not ship to because his item was over 44 pounds.

I have a friend that went to the Azores Islands and a relative offered to give them a great small antique stove that was very heavy. They tried everywhere to get a decent shipping rate but it was something like $600 at the cheapest if I recall correctly. They had to turn down the stove as a gift. They must have been crating fees included in the $600 estimate.

Your biggest problem is the 159 pounds. It is too heavy for USPS and UPS. You may want to check out Fed Ex heavy weight or some of the major truck lines to see if they handle and for how much. You can expect the cost to be over $300 though. I ship car transmissions in the US which has a shipping weight close to your weight and it costs in the $300 range.
I hope this item is worth a lot of money that this bidder really wants it. Is the potential bidder from Canada? If so, e-mail them back and tell them that you will not ship it there. Not worth the major headaches they will put you through. Any other country is OK though.

Some bidders or potential bidders are very naive about shipping costs of heavy items. Expect to see a few "Oh, I thought it would be about $75 ,sorry to waste your time."
