I always thought 2 messages for winning auctions(winner and closed) was overkill.I had an Instant Buy and now have 7 messages saying the auction was closed. No winner notice yet!
I have been getting late and duplicates lately. Anyone else having problems? My mail box gets pretty filled up!
I am doing surprisingly well lately!!I am selling 1-2 items a day!! Guess the Christmas rush is on!LOL! Anyone else seeing a rise in sales? Or a rise in International sales too ?

I gave up selling on Yahoo but on ebay I've opened up to international bidders again after a three year absence and I get a lot of international bidders and winners. They definitely drive up the prices. With less and less bidders out there these days it is hard to exclude any potential bidder's pool.
edited to fix the spelling of the word 'absence'.

I go back and try Yahoo again occasionally .I just did a few weeks ago and I am REALLY surprised!!I had a few more wins today.
I still have a LOT of credit there in my wallet from when they announced fees. I wonder how many people may not realize that they may have some credit left. This makes my auctions there basically free still.
It is working as an alternative to just eBay.
I have been selling internationally for 6 years and have had no problems--knock on wood!! With the Euro having increased in value compared to the USdollar--Europeans have a feeling of affluence and are bidding.

I am still very much in support of any site that can be used as an eBay substitute or a secondary venue. Yahoo is no miracle site for me.But it is producing .I even have repeat business on certain kinds of things!
I honestly believe eBay is aiming at the seller who is volume oriented and not the casual sellers. I also think they are a house of cards just waiting for a strong wind to upset the whole palace financially.
I am a casual seller --who is hedging her bets and is spreading her items around to different venues. Yahoo works for me in vintage jewellery. Other places don't. It is all hit amd miss til you find the right buyers.
I hope to see more people try Yahoo! You're right! They may just be pleasantly surprised!!

I always try to come back to Yahoo for FLD's and then stick around for a bit afterwards if traffic is good.
So far I've had 5 BINs and 11 bids for my post FLD listings - 8) I'm pretty happy with that...
We'll see if that continues.. but any alternative that produces, I wanna be there.

labelle,
Glad to see you are having great success at Yahoo as well. We have been saying this for some time and the na-sayers , mostly bidville rejects, down grade it. We do say not to dump ebay, but diversify and include Yahoo. Most sellers when they come back are usually pleasantly surprised. I even have a brother who is Ebay or nothing. The last FLD I convinced him to list a dozen of his slower sellers, and wouldn't you know it, he sold nearly every one. Now he keeps about a dozen auctions running all the time. Personally, I keep in the neighborhood of 30 running at any one time.
Anyway about the ending auction notices. I haven't been getting a winner e-mail letter when I have an auction that closes with bids for some time. Not sure why, but I simply go to my auctions and check my sold section before deleting any e-mails just to see which I can delete right away and which ones I need to keep. Not sure about the double and more closing e-mails though. That hasn't happened to me. Keep up the great selling.

Yahoo has added images to every auction in the category. Hard for me to describe, easier for you to just go look at your auction in the category.

I saw the lower of the two announcements about a redesign but didn't notice anything different on the main pages. Were the gallery-like photos always there before for each auction ( when available ) for each category? Makes you wonder why ebay charges a quater for the same thing?

Previously the auction category had 3 or 4 images at the top and 50 listings per page. Now an image in each and 25 listings per page.
I've been on the front page of my category a few times, it really picks up bids. Might be worth it for 2 days @$3.
Must be a coincidence that yahoo rolled this out the same time ebay was doing 1˘ gallery.

Since they shut down the used goods, it seems they are putting some effort into the auctions. If they really want to impress sellers, they should hire a few reps, and advertise on the main yahoo page. The bidders are there, but sellers have to list what they want.

I don't think the new look is a coincidence either! Nor do I think eBay is giving sellers 3 days of Penny Gallery out of the goodness of their heart. I think eBay is testing their system to see if it can stand the extra repeated traffic of heavy pic usage. Remember the Checkout that "accidentally" got activated by eBay a while back. Why not charge us for their market research?! This is 4th Quarter and time for eBay to announce new fees for 2003 soon--while sellers and buyers on are on the Christmas buying high. .Wonder if mandatory gallery as part of a fee hike is coming.
Yahoo is just trying to find a way to compete. If I get sales and it is a benefit--I am for Yahoo changes! I have also had 7 items sell to Japan and Italy(2 buyers) in the last 10 days or so. Maybe my listings show there since I say that I will sell internationally. Anyone know?

You can always count on ebay to raise fees. I expect auction, and paypal fees to increase. Meg has huge projections to keep!

If there was a rock band that was very popular and everywhere they went they sold out in minuttes after announcing the arena and date then that band can charge whatever it wanted until there comes a time when they are no longer selling out arenas.
Ebay is a very popular band so looks for fee raises. Only the wealthy get to see the really good bands.
