Wow--just the question I was thinking to ask! Hope we hear soon from some 'hooers soon BTW, just started listing yesterday on this site. Can it be any worse than eBay right now? Features I like especially are the auto extend and Buy Now options! Hope this site works--hope this site works---hope this site works (am clicking my heels too).
As an afterthought, Yahoo seems to be in the sellers' corner offering many ways to list your auction. What a refreshing change of pace.

YOUR EMAIL CAME BACK...ANYWAY I'VE BEEN EXPERIMENTING FROM OTHER STRING I FOUND....NEED ANSWER FROM AW...BUT I THINK IF YOU LIST DIRECTLY WITH YAHOO...AND UPLOAD PICS DIRECTLY TO YAHOO....THUMBNAIL PIC LISTING SHOWS UP...IF U LIST TTO YAHOO FROM AW....ONLY LISTING SHOWS UP IN CATAGORY....SOMEONE FROM AW PLS ANSWER THIS....WHAT THAT MEANS IS IF MOST SHOPPERS VIEW PICS ONLY OPTION - AND I'M SURE MANY DO- THEY NEVER SEE MINE.....AW HOW DO I FIX THAT/

Hi CJ--a friend just emailed this link to another thread. Still trying to digest it--sometimes my brain works better on some days than others. (Don't know about that email thingee--will look into it )

Hi CJ--me again. Think that we have to list through Yahoo to get the pic listed on "pic only" feature. Just listed an auction through Yahoo and it was not that big a deal since I keep all my pics stored on the harddrive. Cut and Pasted my description from an old auction ad and "viola" (SP ) it was listed. However, this auction is not going to show up on my AW manager control panel, oh well. Do what we have to do.

jen..hi...ok you're right....i listed auction through yhoo direct...works that way...only thing yhoo only gives u 2 times option for relist...but wonder if you do following....
a. list initially with yhoo ( store my pics on zip) easy to upload ....take 2 day initial 2 times relist......do this for about 10 to 15 items.....then go to aw and add counters ...i think that will put item into aw for you....am going to try it and see what happens.....cj by the way...my email to u was about 2day 5 times relist....best way to get it out there in front of bidders......5 day item gets lost in long listing....most people watch new item icon and final hour items more than anything else....besides if your in costume jewelry etc...65 pgs....or so....2day listing repeated and repeated...shows up more ofter up front and in their faces....hope i'm clear...was assuming yioyu were newbee and giving you hint to list more effectively on yhoo....since its free.....how often you list doesn't hit you in pocketbook....and since its automatic....less recordkeeping...cj

Hi CJ--yep--your right--my pic is now showing on the pic only feature. We did it girlfriend!! Guess our questions were a bit too mundane for the serious 'hooers or they were just too busy listing. Go YaHOO!!!
edited to add--that is pronounced who-ers--geez just said it to myself and it didn't sound like I originally meant it. Sorry to anyone I might have offended.

Sorry none of us showed up to help you--maybe we're all "night" people and were still sleeping in while you earlybirds started listing this morning.
You seem to have figured out that you upload your FIRST photo directly onto Yahoo for it to be the thumbnail for their "photos only" viewing option. I don't use AW for listing, so I don't know if the photo can be uploaded that way, but I don't think it can.
You're allowed three images on Yahoo, and the second & third can be uploaded directly, too, like the first, in which case they'll be centered right under the first one on your listing page.
If want them to fall elsewhere on the page, you'll need to "host" them somewhere (a 15 mg. Yahoo/Geocities home page is convenient, reliable, and free, and comes with each Yahoo user identity) and write the HTML in your description box. You can also write HTML for "Click Here to See More Photos" in your listing, and they won't count as images. (If you're used to having a bunch of photos in your listing on ebay, this will take some getting used to.)
Counters are also considered an image, but Yahoo provides you one on each of your listing pages (that only the seller can see). PayPal, PayPlace, etc. logos are also considered images. Some sellers add them later as an "edit".
Your auction will get more attention on the last day, so some sellers list 2 day auctions--new today and closing tomorrow. Others want it to run as long as possible (both for bidding AND for not having to fool with it any sooner than necessary). Yahoo recently cut the maximum auction length down from 14 days to 10 days, and the "auto-relist" down from a maximum 5 times to a max of 2 times. No one has complained too much about the auction length being cut down, but the 5-time-relist was VERY, VERY, VERY popular with us sellers. So is the "closing time" feature box.
Many bidders like the "buy price" auctions, so they don't have to wait or take a chance on being outbid (when the "buy price" is met, the auction closes). Reserves don't work very well on Yahoo, so you might instead consider using a "buy price" that the bidders can see. Unless your item is rare and wonderful, you probably won't get more than one bidder, so be sure your opening/buy price/reserve is the minimum you'll take for your item.
And, as you've probably already discovered, the best feature on Yahoo is that your listing is FREE....so if you mess your auction up, just close it, fix the problem, then list it again.

If you need SIMPLE HTML, you can find a webpage that has what you're trying to do, click "view" and "source", scroll down until you find the line you're looking for, and copy it. When you put it in your listing box, just customize it for your needs, and leave the HTML part alone. If that doesn't work, find a teenager to ask!!!!
