Geesh....I'm not sure I understand the implications of this news article at all, not one bit.

Anybody got any comments or commentary?

Does this appear to be an advancement which could assist the liddle FamilySellers?

Incidentally........ is dot-FAM already in existence, as in : http://www.thejones.fam

And if it is already in use, and thus kapuT, then how's about: http://www.thejones.family

Trellix and Tradesafe.com Partner to Offer Secure Person-to-Person E-Commerce Web Sites

"Online auction sites like eBay have proven there is a huge online market for the sale of individual items from one person to another. Yet auctions are structured with variable price bidding and fixed deadlines that are not appropriate for all e-commerce transactions.

"Now, through the Trellix/Tradesafe.com partnership, individuals can sell items directly to interested buyers on an ongoing basis. Prompt payment is guaranteed to sellers, and buyers can buy with the assurance of a secure credit card transaction and quick delivery of their order.

"Tradesafe.com's online payment service enables person-to-person
e-commerce through guaranteed online transactions, providing benefits to both the seller and the buyer. Sellers are completely shielded from credit card fraud and chargeback, and no longer needs to go through the tedious and expensive process of setting up a merchant account. Payments are released within three days, much quicker than with other services. Plus, buyers receive the peace-of-mind with the Internet's only money-back guarantee, which protects against misrepresentation, fraud, and non-delivery."

radh - I just did a quick scan of this and can't see where it is going to have much of an impact. By now we all have websites and virtually every hit any of us gets is via a link in an auction. Other than auctions and maybe posting to newsgroups and boards if you don't overdo it, I just don't see how Mom and Pop are going to be able to bring significant traffic to shop in their secure environment.

I spent sometime putting various items up on our site for shopping but very quickly decided it was a waste of time, and reverted back to basically one page saying who were were and what we were doing. From there people can glean that we have a large inventory and they often ask if they are looking for something.

Also consider that the dotcoms are failing so the last thing we want to do is mimic them.

what's VofC, and Congratulations!!

ps - I think the article you linked says that mom and pop are going to be able to put shopping carts on their sites very easily, so please buy our stock because we are gonna make a mint off the little people.

For the record radh - it is THIS concept that I think is dust and toast, etc.

As I say, the article was way over my present comprehension, and I really am glad you took a looksee, so that I do not have to realllllly examine it. too little time & energy.

"VofC" is the eBay "Voice of the Customer" program, where they you so they can take out out your vocal cords by feeding your fingers to Skippy who's locked in a dungeon in San Jose, one of the capitols in the Latter Day Land of the Handless Peoples.

Okay I took a look at tradesafe's website and this really just looks like another PayPal. I doubt there will be any impact on Yahoo Storefronts at all.
