This is my first week to list a lot of auctions on Yahoo. Today i had 35 auctions end. 12 sold so i guess i am at about 35%. It it hard to tell how much is selling on Yahoo when the auctions selling with a buy price are being removed from the listings. I was just wondering if my sales are average.

12 is great! Congrats! And add to that NO Egreed fees and you are really ahead of the game! Hot Dog! Relist them others and do it again.

toolhound, I'd say you did great! If we put up 100 auctions for 10 days approx. 25% will sell through in that time frame.

Hi VeryMo and Grapey: I think it might take some time to get accustomed to running a virtual STORE FRONT, it's entirely different psychology, particularly the not having to worry about the FVFs, as truly they add up QUICK, which if we only sold topshelf stuff, would be no matter, but I prefer the popular low priced stuffs. LOL

That's a pretty good number. I know someone who has a 70% selling rate but he doesn't hang around here anymore. Anyone seen Pegesus lately. That guy is the official Yahoo mascot & he is really Pro Yahoo.
I have a 20% sell rate but I list over 300 auctions daily. Wish I can push it up to 50% to quit eBay.

Hang in Comic! Keep doing what yer doing. Yahoo's time is a coming and you will be able to say, "You were here to see it!"
I'm really NOT looking forward to the day, all the egreed refugees flood this place even though I can see that day coming if Yahoo leaves thangs alone and doesn't mess it up like Amazon did.

Heygrape, kinda hard sometimes, isn't it?
Toolhound, that sounds pretty good to me! Mine are doing nothing on Yahoo! at the moment, but I am sure going to try hanging in there to wait and see.
I am going to seriously have to get busy with more listings, though, 'cause my oldest has been having to visit the dentist about once a month, and with no insurance it's kinda painful to the pocketbook.

heygrape, I've noticed that everytime I relist, the auction number jumps substantially. That means that there a lot more people listing in Yahoo.
I don't mind the folks from eBay starting to use Yahoo but the problem I see is that they will bring their almighty attitude with them.
The folks here at Yahoo are pretty laid-back. We let business run business. We don't complain much. We see an item out of place, we let it go. Those of us who don't like 'Reserve' auctions don't whine about it too much. We just take it easy & move on.
But that's not true with the eBay nationals. Have you guys been to the eBay outlook?. I mean there are people with personal agenda. I know several people who search eBay daily to find 'Adult' auctions being placed out of category & report them to eBay. And remember about the Reserve fiasco at eBay. Guess who are the users that flood eBay to get Reserve Auction fees implimented on eBay.
There will come a time when all these 'Mr.Know it All' will flood over to Yahoo & start banning everything they don't like. I am serious folks. If you sell leather skin boots, bang someone who is an animal rights activist comes in reports you to the 'Neighbouhood Watch'. Matured items outside of the adult category, bang you are reported. Every small infringement is reported. VERO this, VERO that. I listed a few 'Matured' items in the general categories & bang they get deleted by eBay because some yeehaw decided they are adult items. For pete's sake there wasn't any nudity in the book.
eBay has just become so unberable because of all these people. Now remember I am not condoning or saying lets all use leather skin boots etc. but how would like if some tofu fan comes in a start banning anything related to animal by products (btw I like tofu). Why recently someone wanted to ban turtle sales in eBay?. Endangered species if you believe it. Its a bloody 50 year old turtle shell for pete's sake. Well what do you think?. Heck forget eBay users, I see a few Goldsauction users jumping ship too, not that there are too many there to begin with.
I welcome everyone to Yahoo but let free market run free & personal agendas to the voting ok. Any comments.

wallypog--Boy, you got that right! It's gonna be a awful long time before I get over the Amazon disappointment.
Comic--Looks like ebay hasn't missed giving nightmare abuse to anyone. I wonder if we will ever meet anyone that has come away from ebay unharmed.
Those attitude people will come and they will ruin it, just like they did ebay. We have to accept the fact that nothing is forever, even Yahoo. Someone, Something, Somehow Something will happen to ruin it for us. Boy, have I turned into a pessimist or what? Sheesh.
I still think we should not speak of Yahoo on that udder board. They will come soon enough. Let's not truck them over here on purpose, ya know? The ones that come on their own without any input from us, are the true pioneers that we want. We don't need the opportunists just out for a quick buck and screw Yahoo, ya know? Those will come soon enough anyway without any help from us.
Just my humble opinion. I'm a newbie here. but...but.... I came here on my own. Yeah, I did.

VeryModern--What is yer name anyway? I wanna call you your name. LOL!! Yeah, I think we were reading that piggy stoneware thread at the time time and both thinking the same thing. Skeery eh?

Yup I think the good times will end soon. Anyway I thoroughly enjoy the many folks here at Yahoo. Its a vast difference from eBay Outlook. Everyone here seems to take things easy & very helpful. Lots of idea sharing. We hardly have any major fights here
We get a few trolls now & then which I enjoy but I think everyone basically cool. We don't hype Yahoo as the best there is. Heck we just make it work for ourselves & that's what its all about. Like I said of all the chatrooms here in AW, this is the best cos we are all having a blast. Everyone have a beer & if you don't drink...what's wrong with yer

Nah, grapey, I do not believe that you are being either negative or pessimistic. The first site I adored which went down the tubes was dejanews, spent months there, it actually (literally) saved my life and it devolved into a banner-filled deja.com, and you can't even access Usenet at the homepage no more. Then, I felt saddened in a nostalgic manner when Disney drove Infoseek down the drain pipe as Infoseek was the very first search engine I became familiar with and no, "Go.com" was not an improvement.
Things change, bigtime, FASTtime on the Net, and due to forces we have NO control over. I tell you, I'm even making sure not to unduly "like" or respect anybody from the Net who I happen to see on the teevee, even when I'm really appreciative on their *take* on things. Several months ago I coulda really become a big fan of Jerry Yang, but I successfully resisted, lol.
I trust nothing on the Internet, but I love my experiences, MY experiences on the Net are great, even life-changing & life-saving, but I think that it is Buddhism which cautions one to develop detachment, that attachment to websites leads to suffering, and that all things are subject to change, faster than the speed of light.
I love the Internet; indeed, I am alive because of the Internet, but I will restrict my positivity, the positive feelings which can lead to deluded attachments solely to my own personal experiences, and endeavor to never confuse them with any website, whatsoever.
Wish me luck, LOL!

Perhaps we would have peace a bit longer if all of us stopped going to the eBay board and telling them how great Yahoo is!
Seriously, I think it will take a while before Yahoo is overwhelmed with eBay folks because when you are use to getting those wild end of auction runs on eBay, they just won't stay on Yahoo long enough to realize selling more at a reasonable price, without fees can be better.....so think many will come, try a couple of weeks, and quit....
Also, realize many die hard eBay users are selling unique, one of a kind items which can't be replaced or duplicated, and they want the very best price for such - in that situation, eBay is still be best venue. On items such as these I still use eBay....I basically only post items on Yahoo that I have duplicates of, or items which are relatively common.
It took me 3 or more attempts at Yahoo over 4 months to get past my eBay attitude and learn how to efficiently use Yahoo....and for those of us from eBay who are use to some really wild prices for rather "normal" items, it is hard to learn to settle for less, which in the long run is more when you learn how to use Yahoo.
Both venues have their place.....but I LOVE what Yahoo has brought to the market place.

jwpc, agreed. eBay is still the best place for price. For what I am selling, it works great in Yahoo.
As bad as some people may think Yahoo Auction is...low sales, low bids & multiple complains, you guys should get out some other sites. You want to talk depressing...there are some sites that are begging to get 10k auctions running at the same time.
