I am new to Yahoo and before jumping in I am trying to get an idea of some of the do's and don'ts. I have found alot of great ideas on this board but still have a few questions.
There has been several threads lately about 1st bid wins, which sounds great but I am wondering what this is as I do not see it on the Yahoo sell page. I also see that Yahoo has 2 day auctions and with automatic relists, seems like for common items this would keep your items near the top probably would work best with a buy now price has anyone used this feature? Does anyone use AW's auction manager to list their auctions? Are their advantages/ disadvantages to listing this way? Any suggestions are welcome.

I load all ads direct to Yahoo. If you use a photo host your pics won't appear for all of the "shop by photo only" bidders (and there seems to be a huge percentage of those).
When you click 'submit item' you have to fill in the opening price. Further down the page there are optional boxes to enter either a buy price or a reserve price. The buy price can be the same or higher than the opening. Just be sure to explain in the description 'bidding the Buy price will eliminate competing with other bidders because it allows you to win instantly'. Another seller told me they used a buy price without the explanation and the bidder negged them because they didn't understand. Neg said 'beware, after I bid I changed my mind but they tricked me by ending the auction early so I couldn't retract'.
I don't think the length of auction really matters if you're using First bid wins in the title (buy price would have to equal opening for First bid wins). If bidders are using a specific search term it will likely be on page 1 or 2 whether it's a 1 day or 10 day ad. Lots of 1st bid ads close in a day or two but if it doesn't sell you save yourself a lot of work by using the max length & 2 times auto relist.

Be sure when you upload your photos directly onto Yahoo that the FIRST one is the one you want for the thumbnail on "show only photos" viewing. I think most Yahoo Auction sellers don't use AW's auction manager because they won't have a thumbnail photo if they do.
There is no "first bid wins" button to click. You just put that phrase in your title, and make your "starting price" and "buy price" identical with no reserve. Anyone who bids the starting price automatically wins the auction with that amount.
Some sellers like the two day auctions--first day is "new" and second day is "closing" on the listings pages, but it does make more work for you having to manually relist it more often if your item doesn't sell. If you need fast turnover and don't have too many listings to fool with, it might do well for you.
It's the slowest time of the year, so don't be too impatient if you don't get many bids.
